Modifying a netinstall ISO image
...e -R -J -v -T . I got the mkisofs command line from http://www.centos.org/docs/5/html/5.2/Installation_Guide/s2-steps-make-cd.html (I couldn't find anything similar in the CentOS/RHEL 6.X documentation). This appears to work just fine, but the resulting ISO image is about 20% bigger (194M vs. 162M) and has an extra TRANS.TBL file at the top level. Any ideas what is causing this? It's no big deal as I've got things working, but I'm curious nonetheless... Alfred

Saving Compile Time in InstCombine
...o the dbg use). Do you have numbers of instcombine ran on IR with > and without debug info? I do have the numbers for the same app with and without debug info. The results above are for the no-debug version. Total execution time of -O3 is 34% slower with debug info. The size of the debug IR is 162M vs 39M no-debug. Both profiles look relatively similar with the exception of bit code writer and verifier taking a larger share in the -g case. Looking at InstCombine, it’s 23% slower. One notable thing is that CallInst takes significantly larger share with -g: 5s vs 13s, which translates to about...

php-cgi frozen with sbwait when SMP enable
Hello, I have 4 web servers with lighttpd to serve one web site with DNS load sharing. On the 2 SMP-enable web servers, there will be many php-cgi frozen in 'sbwait' state every day. It means the php-cgi stay in 'sbwait' state, and never be back to 'accept' or other state. If I restart them, there will be frozen php-cgi appear some hours later. There is no problem on the

Extremely slow zpool scrub performance
Running a zpool scrub on our production pool is showing a scrub rate of about 400K/s. (When this pool was first set up we saw rates in the MB/s range during a scrub). Both zpool iostat and an iostat -Xn show lots of idle disk times, no above average service times, no abnormally high busy percentages. Load on the box is .59. 8 x 3GHz, 32GB ram, 96 spindles arranged into raidz zdevs on OI 147.

Saving Compile Time in InstCombine
I’m taking a first look at InstCombine performance. I picked up the caching patch and ran a few experiments on one of our larger C++ apps. The size of the *.0.2.internalize.bc no-debug IR is ~ 30M. Here are my observations so far. Interestingly, caching produced a slight but measurable performance degradation of -O3 compile time. InstCombine takes about 35% of total execution time, of which ~20%
