My laptop is a Dell XPS-13 running CentOS 7.? It has a 13" 1920x1080 screen and it's a bit difficult for my mid-40s eyesight.? Fedora and Debian, on this laptop, give me the option of choosing 1600x900 which is much easier for me to read but CentOS doesn't show this resolution as available. I followed the steps I found in a post on stackexchange using xrandr, substituting 1600x900 where applicable and it worked but, once I rebooted, it went back to 1920x1080 with no 1600x900 option in s...

Thanks for the help. I've got it working now.? What I ended up doing was adding video=1600x900 to my boot / kernel command line to test and then appended it in my grub menu. I screwed around with font scaling with Gnome Tweak and also in about:config of Firefox and Thunderbird but there was always something that looked funny and some webpages didn't come out right. setting my resolu...

I have no idea how.? All I can find is the Hi-DPi settings in Gnome-Tweak but, of course, it only lets? me choose to scale from "1" to "2" which makes things way too big. Video Resolution
Hi I've just installed Tachyon: The Fringe and it plays but the max resolution that it detects is 1024x768. My monitor is 1600x900. Is there some way of helping it detect the full resolution? I've tried running with a desktop, but no joy. Wine version 1.7.46 Thanks

X/Display resolution configuration
I've installed CentOS 6.3 on a new system. I've a nagging problem that I'm trying to fix---the screen resolution changes. I've a flat screen monitor that has 1600x900 capability. However when I logout and then log back in the resolution changes to 1280x1024. When I looked at the xorg.conf.d directory it was empty---both in /etc and in /usr/share. Where is xorg.conf and it's monitor section now? BTW, I'm use KDE. mw -- -- "Lose not thy airspe...

Problems with widescreen (16:9) under CentOS 5 w/ xorg-x11-drv-i810-1.6.5-9.40.el5
...4:3. (All three of the new wide screen monitors do have 15-pin VGA connections, so this 'presumption' is obviously false, esp. since the monitors using DDC while connection via VGA are suggesting 16:9 mode lines.) I got *one* of the machines to correctly use a 16:9 aspect ratio Modeline (1600x900) using the DVI connection. The other two don't work. One won't display anything (claims that the video is missing or wrong). And the other just uses something like 640x480. Both monitors work just fine on DVI in console display mode (bare kernel VGA), so the video card is seeing the monit...

auto center on desktop
hi, a few questions here. I've got wine setup to emulate a virtual desktop at 1600x900 and my monitor resolution is 1680x1050. I'm wondering if there's a way to have wine auto-center onto my desktop? Also, I launch wine from a terminal and i'm wondering if there is a way to send it to a different workspace? i've got 4 workspaces, and i'd like to have, on startup...

Attack on Pearl Harbor will not run
...ot very familiar with wine. My grandson downloaded the demo for Attack on Pearl Harbor and after download finished I upgraded to the latest wine1.3. I right clicked on the desktop icon, went to permissions and marked for executable. When I left click on desktop icon the screen resolution drops from 1600x900 to 1200x768 and the screen goes white with occasional black and red irregular shaped boxes--no mouse pointer--and that is all it does. Just wondering if I need to install any special dll's or anything else. Any help would be appreciated.

Dual Head: 2nd monitor "Out of Range"
...driver... yay! The only problem is that I seem to have an issue with dual heads. I have a pretty new computer (as of January) with a 1GB Nvidia card that worked nicely with my previous Nouveau installation, so I know it should work with my setup. I can get the laptop screen running at its native 1600x900 without issue. I can set the external monitor to its native 1920x1200, but the monitor only displays "Out of Range" when I do that. In the Desktop Switcher, it appears as if it recognizes the 2nd monitor and I can move window onto it, but the monitor just does not display an image. The...
