Q4 and Q3 seem to produce the same results. Internally speex is controlled
by tables defining coding parameters for various quality levels. In this
case there is no difference between 3 and 4.
Here's the 16 bit Mono mode list

Oh OK. I looked a bit in the sources, but it was too confusing for me. ;-)

After the log snippets below, I will try to explain the problem as I see

jean-marc,
i tried like you recommended to resample the 44100 hz speech file with
the ess sounds to 16000 hz before speexenc-ing it.
result was good actually, i was able to use quality 8 without any
signs of sound bleeping, and the file size was very small (7324 bytes
compared to 9319 bytes with windows media voice at full quality).
the downside to this is that high frequencies are lost, which i thin...

G.722 between Eyebeam and a Polycom IP650
Hi All,
So I've been exploring the use of G.722 encoded wideband audio
recently. I have three different SIP devices that allow this: Eyebeam,
IP650 and a Siemens S865IP. The Siemens and IP650 seems to work fine
together. Calls pass between them in what the Polycom notes as "HD"
mode and the audio quality is certainly very good.
However, things are not so easy with Eyebeam and the

Hi,
I have a dir with more than 16000 files in it.
If I klick with MS-Explorer on this Dir to see which files are in it,
smbd opens every file and so it takes some seconds to show this Dir!

the logfile says smbd do this for every file:

1 file of 16000 always being updated
Hi all!
I'm trying rsync synchronizing some directories with about 16.000 files.
After the first synchronization, the others are transfering just the
changed files, as it is expected to be, except for 1 single file, that
is not changed (size or time) and is being transfered in all
synchronization.
The file is called JSPWiki.war, and is a java war file.
I checked the size and times on both
