Time Series Object
I have a time series object that is made up of readings at 15 minutes
for two years (this is why I am not posting data series). I have made
this a time series with
y = ts(x, frequency=96)
ninety six is the number of 15minutes in a day. I want to smooth this
series with
k = kernel("modified.daniell", #)
y.s = kernapply(y, k)
if I want to smooth it for ~month windows do I use # = (30*96)/2 or 30/2
I will then take this and use
spectrum(y.s, log="no")
the peaks that are generated are now in days e...

Reason for slow MS-DOS MS client writes
...set MAXSENDSIZE to 8192, which did match my Samba server at
the time. I STFW'd every setting on our DOS floppy and finally found that
MAXSENDSIZE had a hard limit of 2048, and if it did not understand a value
(like 8192) it defaulted to 1024!
Want a little math? 8192/1024=8. ~2minutes*8=~15minutes.
Lights flashed, clouds parted, angels sung, and somewhere, a PFY scored with
a Super Model.
We are now transfering at up to 67MB/minute at 10mbit, and with one to four
systems on 100mbit, we are hitting the server with 130MB/minute each! That's
roughly 69mbit (enhanced by compression) an...

Notes toward an rsync regression suite
...pose an undue load on the test machine. So,
on today's machines, using 10GB of disk to run the test suite will
discourage many people from running it. Similarly for VM and CPU
usage. Tests should probably run maximally nice. Similarly the
suite probably ought to run in less than 15minutes on typical
hardware. On the other hand there may be some bugs that only arise
on very large transfers, so it should be possible to run them if
desired.
* If the test fails, the error message should show all the
information that the developers are likely to want to know. Tests

Sipura endpoints
Anyone have experience with Sipura's? Anyone know if they offer a
warranty? Would like opinions on these, good or flame.
We bought *one* to test with and it died, can't even get a
response from Sipura "support". Could anyone recommend another device to
replace these? Prefer 1 or 2 port design.
Ty :-)
