Softphone vmail indicator and TDM400P woes
Hello list... 1) Is there an IAX softphone that supports any kind of voicemail indicator? 2) I have 2 TDM400Ps installed in a system. I need the audio on the analog phone (FXS modules) to be amplified somewhere between 10 and 15db so I set rxgain and txgain to 15 for the FXO interfaces and FXS interfaces. When a call comes in on the FXO at this setting, the call sometimes has about 20 seconds of loud noise that sounds like it might be music in the background. The problem is intermittent. Any ideas on how to solve this one? W...

what is the effect of high LBO settings?
I'm working on an Asterisk system with all of it's PRI ports configured with the LBO setting at 5, like this: span=3,0,5,esf,b8zs As of yet, I am unwilling to change the LBO to 0 to where it probably should be because the system is working and I'm not sure exactly what the LBO does. I'm aware some changes were made to deal with low audio levels. Does anybody know what audio

Are you sure? 8 unused bits require gain equal to -48 dB. Gain values for very loud over-compressed tracks are only -10...-15dB, so only 2...2.5 bits are 'unused'. > Music players that have adopted R128 or are planning it have often adjusted it > by several dB to avoid the "too quiet" issue. icecast sound compressor
Hi, I searched the Internet to find an answers, but I didn't find anything useful, so I'm turning to you, maybe someone has the answer. I want to make a realtime broadcast from a Linux box. The source is the soundcard's line-in, and it sends the stream to an Icecast server. I would like to have realtime compressor/limiter functionalities on this Linux box, so the outgoing signal

Performance of the acoustic echo canceller
...far as I can tell, the delay between echo_frame and input_frame is consistent and about 10ms. I would assumethe synchronization is not a problem. And I also have some other echo recording files which has almost 0db echo return loss and about 20ms consistent delay. The EC can achieve about 10 to 15db echo return loss enhancement in this case. Is it normal? I would think 25+ db ERLE plus 15+ NLP/ES should make the residual echo inaudible. I am not sure about the nonlinearity of those recording files but I would appreciate it if you could take a look of those. I uploaded them to http://www.s...

...n further red alerts. NTL, bless them, came out with a test rig and plugged this in the back of my * box and we made a series of test calls which all worked fine, although the NTL chap said the attenuation was out as there was a lot of buzz on the line. He suggested we set the line build out to 6 (-15db) but we were still getting buzz on the test calls - other than that he was happy that the config was correct and as the test rig showed the * box talking properly and making outgoing calls OK we all reckoned that the next time we hooked up to the ISDN line it would be OK. I couldn't do this wit...

Configuring TDM400 in Australia
Hi, all I have installed TDM400 with 1 FXS and 1 FXP ports. Now I am goig through documentation on how to configure it. It mentions 3 protocols: Loopstart, Groundstart and Koolstart. Which one do I use? Can someone send me sample zaptel.conf file for Australia? This will save me some time and will be used as a working example. Thanks, Rudolf
