too many files opened
Hi folks, My institute's mail server was upgraded to RHEL5 with dovecot 1.0-2.1rc5 recently. And it uses PAM authentication which points to LDAP server. Now from time to time it gets Error like dovecot: Aug 29 09:23:59 Error: auth(default): pam(joshua,192.168.177.52): pipe() failed: Too many open files and users can not login. dovecot-auth defunct
Hi, I'm running dovecot-0.99.11-2.EL4.1 in RHEL4 and a couple of hours ago, I could not longer login in the imap or pop3 service. I noted that I have a process like this: root 8130 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 16:55 0:00 [dovecot-auth] <defunct> It this ok to have a defunct proccess? I can not kill this process. I have to stop the dovecot service, killall pop3-login and

dovecot and libnss-ldap
Hi, I've been using dovecot 0.99.14 for a few years, with libpam-ldap and libnss-ldap, and never experienced any problem with those. I expect to soon switch to dovecot 1.0rc15 (or whatever gets available in Debian Etch, hopefuly dovecot 1.0), but I've seen some warnings against dovecot+libnss-ldap...
