Linux Kernel VESA Video Modes for 1440x900
Jan, List: Is there any way we can compile a kernel to include the VESA Video Modes for 1440x900 resolution so that we can pass grub VGA=867 for 1440x900. This will all me to work in runlevel 3 without the screen resolution being stretched from 1024x768 to 1440x900. The stretch causes everything to be distorted. The necessary VESA modes and numbers are: 1440x900 (dec; h...

Problem: NVIDIA C73 & 1440x900
As mentioned in my previous thread, I can't get my Video card: NVIDIA C73 [GeForce: 7100/ nForce 630i] to display 1440x900 on my CentOS 5.4 on my HP Pavilion with monitor Dell E198WFPV. Googing around, I see that others have had this problem with the NVIDIA card. In one case, it was solved by gaining access to card parameters and setting them directly. I can't find a way to do this on my box. One solution might...

[Bug 62115] New: Refresh rate stuck at 60Hz
...d=76277&action=edit boot - change to 60Hz - change to 75Hz but my monitor is still at 60 Hz Hi, I'm using Linux Mint 14 MATE x64 kernel 3.5.0-25 with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 video card and a ViewSonic VG1921wm monitor. Using the NVIDIA privative driver I can set the monitor resolution to 1440x900 @ 75Hz in Menu > Preferences > Display. Then with the monitor buttons I look in Information and it says that vertical frequency is 74.8Hz, and when I set it to 1440x900 @ 60Hz, the monitor says that vertical frequency is 59.9Hz, namely: all works well. But when I'm using Nouveau it has n...

X defaults
I've been trying to move from Centos 7 to fedora. My monitor is 1440x900, but fedora only believes it's 640x480. Grrrr. xrandr has not helped. I've been trying to write X configuration files to tell fedora 1440x900, but no joy. Is there a way to get X to tell me its current beliefs, very preferably in configuration file format? According to the log file on Cent...

Ignoring DDC settings on Xorg
...not get it to work correctly. The closest I get is 1400x900, which causes lots of vertical blur bands. I have tried with two different machines with i945 and ATi cards, running CentOS 4 and Ubuntu, always with the same result. My investigations indicate that the monitor reports itself to be "1440x900". It also supports 1600x1200 by squashing the pixels together, so it also advertises support for that resolution, which messes things up. According to the documentation I have seen online, disabling DDC (using NoDDC and DCC "off") and setting the correct modeline should work, but it...

Script Help
...ng Battle for Middle Earth 2, my screen resolution needs to be set at 1024x768 before I run the program or it crashes when I start a game. (It does switch automatically to 1024x768 but if I didn't set it myself beforehand it will crash once I start a game). Normally I have my resolution set at 1440x900. I wrote a script to do a few things: Code: sed 's/"UseGLSL"="enabled"/"UseGLSL"="disabled"/' -i /home/david/.wine/user.reg xrandr -s 1024x768 sleep 2 env WINEPREFIX="/home/david/.wine" wine "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Ba...

Strange Question regarding CentOS 5 install
...op (a Dell D620). I had everything working great and kicked it around a bit and then figured, if I'm going to keep this on my laptop I'll need to reformat everything, enable some encrypted filesystems etc ... not a big deal ... kind of Here's the problem, the laptop has a resolution of 1440x900 and X wont start up on it therefore, I do not get the graphical installer ... not a big deal if you don't want to customize your volume groups and logical volumes, but I would like to. So far I've tested graphical installers from Mandriva and Knoppix and they will actually load a graphical...

[Bug 33841] New: Fedora 14 randomly crashes
...ra 12 one year ago; so I returned to use Fedora 11. I used Fedora 11 for more than a year without problems. One month ago I had to pass to Fedora 14, fresh installation. I use the default driver nouveau. It seems ok, it recognizes the hardware (video card and monitor) and set the correct resolution 1440x900. But randomly my computer freezes. The problems with Fedora 14 is the same encountered with Fedora 12. Level of hang = 3: Display is frozen, no reaction at all to key presses or mouse. NumLock etc. keyboard lights do not react. I passed to use nvidia rpmfusion driver, but I had the same problem....

(the xorg.conf is inlined following Xorg.0.log) ------- --------- ---=--- --------- -------- So I turned to xrandr, hoping to set something similar. And I believe xrandr commands such as: xrandr --output DVI-I-1 --mode 1440x900 \ --fb 1440x900 --panning 1680x105 or even the full previously available size: xrandr --output DVI-I-1 --mode 1440x900 \ --fb 2048x1536 --panning 2048x1536 Do set the size. Either of those appears to set the larger virtual size as I see an image I use as backg...

I've found that I can just append "vga=0x380" to the kernel command line and see Plymouth come up with the full graphical boot screen in the correct 1440x900 resolution, but as soon as gdm starts up, the display scrambles. 4.4 on Dell D620: widescreenresolution?
Hi, Did anyone manage to get 4.4 working on a Dell D620 laptop? The thing has a 1440x900 LCD screen, but I don't get X the work with that resolution. (lspci: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)) Google suggested to use '915resolution', which I installed (915resolution-0.5.2-1.el4.rf), but that doesn't help.
