To make say a BIOS flash tool available over PXE, my impression is that a typical procedure goes like this: modify a generic FreeDOS 1440K disk image to contain the EXE and change the AUTOEXEC.BAT to launch that EXE, then make the 1440K IMG available on the PXE server. But more recent BIOS flash EXE are too large and won't fit on the 1440K, not even 3840K, so now we have to look into making a custom FreeDOS ISO image or FreeDO...

Hello, when testing FreeBSD-7.1-BETA i discovered that the floppy disk controller doesn't work correctly. Trying to format a floppy (perhaps with bad blocks) i get: Processing fdformat: ioctl(FD_FORM): Device not configured instead of the normal E letter. My src files are from a Win98SE 1440K floppy image file, with a x86 boot sector (dl'd from the net - I have no floppy drive and a slow net link 3.2KB). Hi all, I have observed a problem where, under legacy BIOS booting mode on the DL360g9, memdisk fails to execute. The same mechanism works fine on the DL360g8. This sounds kind of like what happened with me for earlier attempts at using syslinux. Skip using HPA's tools entirely and dd if=vmlinuz of=/dev/fd0 bs=1440k count=1 and make sure that the kernel runs from a floppy disk. There'll be no file system or anything, but you'll make sure that your kernel isn't faulty. Hello, are there known issues with some bioses not booting from Superfloppy format? All I get is the Syslinux (c) line and nothing else happens afterwords. Everything works fine if a partition is added to the device. Unfortunately however the target device can not be partitioned. Any hint?
