IP address getting overridden by Samba and domain member?
...running SQL Server 2005 to service a legacy application. The virtual machine implements a virtual "router" which dhcp assigns an IP to the XP: 10.0.2.15 (host name: traverse). In the VM I have configured port-forwarding to forward requests made to the Linux VM host (192.168.02) on port 1433 to the VM port 1433. >From domain workstations you cannot access the SQL Server via 10.0.2.15:1433. You can, however, access the SQL Server via 192.168.0.2:1433. No problem, I thought. I created an 'A' record in the zone file as: TRAVERSE A 192.168.0.2 so now 192.168.0.2 has two...

automagic blacklist
Hello list members, Over the past 12 hours my firewall box has had over 300 hits to port 1434 from numerous ip''s. I ran tcpdump on a couple of them and it looks like the ms-sql exploit attempt. I don''t use ms-sql. I''ve always gotten a few hits per day, but now it''s gotten out of control. I use logcheck to email the system logs to me and at this rate by the

[RFC]: OpenSSH vpn lists
...en if the application/server doesn't support launching the service over SSL. This has some issues; so I'm probing for ideas on a new feature that would resolve them and make this easier. Let's hypothesize that you have 100 database servers serving MySQL (TCP:3306) and MS SQL 2005 (TCP:1433). These are as follows: 10.10.30.[50-100]:3306 - MySQL 10.10.40.[75-125]:1433 - MS SQL 2000/2005 To deal with this, you set up on each machine 100 virtual network adapters that don't route outside: 192.168.30.[50-100] - 10.10.30.[50-100] mates 192.168.40.[75-125] - 10.10.40.[75-125] mates...

Samba-4.3 AD-DC Win7pro clients not time syncing
We have a Samba-4.3 AD-DC hosted on a FreeBSD-10.3 system. We have just discovered that for some reason our domain workstations are not synchronising their time with the AD-DC. We have not altered the default GPO nor have we created a special GPO to handle time services. I have been working on several of the domain clients and I cannot seem to get them to source from the Samba server. I have
