Is this right? -- Centos 6 and RHEL 6 infrastrure for continuous update/upgrade
Hi all, Both RHEL 6 and CentOS 6 can be installed from any minor releases DVDs: 6.0, 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, etc. And then got continuous upgrade/update with command 'yum -y upgrade' if repos are setup correct. But the repos infrastructure is different between the two. CentOS uses two repos: ??? ..../centos/6/os/... repo and .../centos/6/updates/... The updates/ repo contains ONLY updated RPMs

Indexing speed benchmark - Xapian, Solr
I came across this benchmark between Xapian & Solr: http://www.anur.ag/blog/2009/03/xapian-and-solr/ According to the benchmark, a doc set that took Solr 34 min to index took Xapian 7 hours. Solr's index is also much smaller - 2.5GB to Xapian's 8.9GB. I'm new to Xapian. Just wondering if results like these are typical? Is indexing speed & size a known issue in Xapian? Or is

problems between different versions of rsync
Are there issues between different versions of rsync? Specifically I have a 2.4.6 on solaris 8 pushing to a 2.3.0 on solaris 2.6 over ssh(F-Secure version). The issue that I am seeing is that when I use the following command: rsync --delete -rlvp -e ssh2 $localdir user@host:remotedir The user and group are different on both boxes(neither being root). Any help would be appreciated. --Jeff

separate home "partition"?
(i use the term loosely because i know that zfs likes whole volumes better) when installing ubuntu, i got in the habit of using a separate partition for my home directory so that my data and gnome settings would all remain intact when i reinstalled or upgraded. i''m running osol 2008.11 on an ultra 20, which has only two drives. i''ve got all my data located in my home directory,
