rsync takes long pauses in xfer ?
...id some googling on this but did not come up with much. I'm using
rsnapshot which uses rsync, and I notice some pretty long pauses in
the xfers as you can see on this graph from "munin". THe machine in
question right at the moment is doing nothing but rsyncing (
rsnapshoting ) some 12T of NAS storage to local disk, so there is
nothing else going on at all.

stop tunefs.ocfs2
Hi all,
I upgraded ocfs from 1.2 to 1.4 after the update I launched tunefs.ocfs2 to enable the new ocfs2 features (sparse files and unwritten extents). tunefs.ocfs2 is now running since 2 days (12T partition) and I need my system back to production, can I safety abort tunefs.ocfs2?
thanks

hardware issues and new server advice
...ing the above scenario.
we also previously had issues with the load created by raid resync so we
are considering to skip raid alltogether and rely on gluster replication
instead. (by compensating with three replicas per brick instead of two)
our options are:
6 of these:
AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 3600 - 6c/12t - 3.6GHz/4.2GHz
32GB - 128GB RAM
4 or 6 ? 6TB HDD SATA
6Gbit/s
or three of these:
AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 3700 - 8c/16t - 3.6GHz/4.4GHz
32GB - 128GB RAM
6? 14TB HDD SAS
6Gbit/s
i would configure 5 bricks on each server (leaving one disk as a hot
spare)
the engineers prefer the second option due to the...

...I think it caused ~10 tests to fail, where fail = either

don't recall if standalone CFL-AA causes miscompiles, but I highly doubt
the breakages I observed were BasicAA's fault.
WRT speed, `time make -j14` on my box (6c/12t) didn't show a meaningful
increase in compile time when CFL-AA gets enabled (read: it got lost in the
noise). So, I agree that it's probably fast enough at the moment; if we
want to enhance it, we should focus on making it bootstrap
clang+LLVM/making it more accurate.

Doubts about dsync, mdbox, SIS
...dsync server using mdbox and SIS. The
idea was that the destination server would act as a warm copy of
all our active users data.
The active servers are using Maildir, and has:

very little of this is compressed (zlib plugin enabled during christmas).

Samba large file support negotiation when accessed via UNC path
I am experiencing a strange problem that I hope someone out there has
experience withf.
We have a large fileserver running samba 3.6 backed by a 12T ext4
filesystem. We keep lots of VMware VMs on the filestore and I am trying to
make some improvements to how we manage/launch/use the VMs. To that end,
I've been trying to launch the VMs via the VMware VIX API by UNC path (not
mapped drive).
The trouble is that when accessed via UNC path, it...
