resize2fs
Hi All:
I am trying to resize a centos (5.2) VM drive. I use VMware and I have
increased the size of the drive by 40G. I am running resize2fs on
/dev/sdb1 (which is my root partition) but when I do I get this error:
[root at centos ~]# resize2fs /dev/sdb1 120G
resize2fs 1.39 (29-May-2006)
The containing partition (or device) is only 19970795 (4k) blocks.
You requested a new size of 31457280 blocks.
How can I change the block size?
I have also tried to use gparted live cd but it will not allow me to
increase the size even though it sees 40g of unused s...

Distribution Diversity at Shorewall.net
Since RedHat announced the discontinuence of RedHat Linux, I''ve been
diversifying shorewall.net. The systems here now are as follows:
a) Firewall -- Debian testing (Installed using the Sarge online
installer).
b) File Server -- SuSE 9.0 Professional
c) Desktop -- Mandrake 9.0
d) Web/Mail -- RedHat 9.0
I think that I will wait until I can afford to build a new

Problem w/ b95 + ZFS (version 11) - seeing fair number of errors on multiple machines
Hi,
After upgrading to b95 of OSOL/Indiana, and doing a ZFS upgrade to the newer
revision, all arrays I have using ZFS mirroring are displaying errors. This
started happening immediately after ZFS upgrades. Here is an example:
ormandj at neutron.corenode.com:~$ zpool status
pool: rpool
state: DEGRADED
status: One or more devices has experienced an unrecoverable error. An

Yet another zfs vs. vxfs comparison...
...ng up old news, but I couldn''t find a good answer searching the previous posts (My mom always says I am bad with finding things :)
However I noticed a difference when creating a zfs filesystem compared with a vxfs filesystem in the available size. ie.
ZFS
zonedata/zfs 392G 120G 272G 31% /zfs
VxFS
/dev/vx/dsk/zonedg/zonevol
400G 78M 397G 1% /vxfs
They are both build from 4 LUNs of the same size from the same array....
So where did the 8G''s go?
thanks,
//Mike

BUT... how do I now get the system to boot since hda is not there to boot...
I can certainly execute the fdisk and raidhotadd after it boots... How
do I get it to boot.
The hardware is a D865 intel motherboard with 2 seagate 120G drives.
Thanks,

randomForest: too many elements specified?
I getting "Error in matrix(0, n, n) : too many elements specified"
while building randomForest model, which looks like memory allocation
error.
Software versions are: randomForest 4.5-25, R version 2.7.1
Dataset is big (~90K rows, ~200 columns), but this is on a big machine (
~120G RAM)
and I call randomForest like this: randomForest(x,y)
i.e. in supervised mode and not requesting proximity matrix, therefore
answer from Andy Liaw to an email reporting the same problems in 2005
(see below)
is probably not directly applicable, still it looks like it is too big

3.11.5 kernel infinite loop
I have a system running the Debian package of 3.11.5 with an Amd Opteron 1212
processor (2*64bit cores), 8G of RAM, and an Intel 120G SSD for the root and
home subvols. It has a RAID-1 array of 2*3TB disks for bulk storage (movies
etc) but that probably isn''t relevant to this problem.
On the root filesystem I have cron jobs making daily snapshots of / and /home
and additional snapshots of /home every 15 minutes. At...

Attempting To Recover, fsck infinite looping on me
Hey all,
Had a power failure and subsequent ext3 disk corruptions. Attempting
to fix, but not working.
Its a 120 gig IDE disk, 3 partitions. /boot, /, and swap.
Basically can't boot up since the box can't get to the system files
in /usr/ or anything.
So I'm booting off of a FC2 disk 1 in recovery mode and trying to fix
the filesystem with e2fsck
The boot partition cleaned up

But I have found this on my logs "save failed to INBOX: Not enough disk space" .
There is enougth space on disk. and I am not using quota plugin on lmtp
my lmtp conf is as follow:

SSD no longer detected - slightly off topic
Hi All,
I have a new Samsung SSD 2T 860 type device. I connected it to my centos
7.6 system using external USB 3.1 that has power and data supplied over the
USB cable. I do this all the time with a 120G SSD works fine.
Formatting the device worked fine - then I mounted it and tried to copy
1.5T of data. The copy never finished through the night. I think there
wasn't enough power for the SSD....
Now when I power the SSD with an external USB with power the disk is not
seen when I plug it in....
