Supporting 32 bit data
Hi all, I just noticed this: https://sourceforge.net/p/flac/feature-requests/91/ a request for support of 32 bit audio data. The request has been around since 2008. Had two inial impressions: * Would adding this break brackwards compatibility too badly? Obviously decoding of 32 bit encoded data would not work with older versions of flac. * This is nuts. 24 bits has a dynamic range of

Supporting 32 bit data
...a dynamic range of ~140dB which is roughly > the difference between a quiet whisper in a quiet room, to the sound > of a jet engine at 10 meters. Surely that is enough? Yes, this is nuts. First, 24-bit is already overkill, as there is no hardware (ADC or DAC) that can handle more than 120dB of dynamic range anyway. There probably never will be hardware that can handle the full 24 bits, because at this point that hardware is already pushing the boundary of thermal noise. Second, most 32-bit material is 32-bit float, and that is something the FLAC format can't handle. I really...

..., once I get my hardware piece. My other possibility is to use DVD-Audio format and put that on a CD... but I'd prefer a open source system over anything else. <p>On subnote, the fabulous HD192 (still by MOTU) just came on the marketplace. I have no requirement for 192KHz nor grade-A 120db dynamic range... even if it is tempting :P But it's good to make my point anyways: with the release of "affordable" gear that can do better than DAT, I guess it would be the time Ogg starts to look on higher resolution than what has been available for the last 15 years on comput...

Production Server That Just Works?
Hi, Love Rails... I''m looking for a Production Quality Server that brings the same ease of use as Rails does to web development. I''ve tried TextDrive, and never got it to work. I''m sure there are good reasons why it didn''t work but they are beyond me. I''ve contacted tech support there several times, and it seems that there are so many setups that

Using Runt with Rails Tutorial or Helpers?
I''m working on a project that has event scheduling and I need to get date recurrence going on it. I found the Runt library which looks like it has pretty much everything handled, but I was wondering if there are any tutorials out there for using Runt with Rails, or better yet some helpers or a plugin for it. I tried searching through the mailing list archives, but searching is down

Differentiating between normal site content and accounts with subdomains
I''m using the subdomains as accounts method fine on a project, but I''m wondering what is the best way to differentiate between account subdomains to access the app using an account, and www.domain.com and domain.com in order to show normal site content. I''ve noticed that on Backpack, it seems that when you leave the information pages and start using the app,
