Analog modems behind an Asterisk server?
...s that others have made when
attempting that. We assume that there are no inherent problems with
modems in respect to the Asterisk software, but it appears that the
FXO/FXS hardware restricts this kind of a setup to lower data
transmission rates, is this correct?
Currently, we only transmit at 1200bps, is this rate problematic with
Digium cards? Up to what data transmission rate are Digium cards known
to work reliable? We do not think we'll ever go beyond 9600bps, can we
do this with a let's say TDM400P?
Will future Digium hardware improve the situation or will this stay the
same in...

SMS ON ASTERISK
We installed na Asterisk System whith 400 Softphone users (Eyebeam 1.5 from
Counterpath).
As far as we know, Asterisk don't support yet IM (Instante Message)
feature,instead Eyebeam have this feature.
Is that true? Is there any new version from Asterisk that supports IM?

r2q
Hello,
I''ve installed htb3 on my simple config
(htb + sfq) . Something is now complaining that quantum is too small
and suggest that r2q be changed.
There seems to be no documentation on this.
Ideas anyone?

RxFax - tiff problem
Hello,
We use tiff version 3.5.7-2 and spandsp-0.0.2pre3 with asterisk version 1.0 on
debian unstable. I have posted for our problem wtih fax. RxFax works and we
receive faxes, but the tiff file is sometimes malformed although the fax seems
to be received correctly. Our asterisk server receives calls and faxes from a
mobile operator. We are connected to their Cisco router which connects to our

T1 Sync clarification
Hi List,
After reading a bunch of the docs, list post archives, it
still seems that a clear definition of how to clock the T100P
card is muddy.
zttool says that the link is "INTERNALLY CLOCKED",
does this mean the T100P is providing clock, or does
this mean the T100P is getting clock from the T1 line
side (ergo getting clock from the Telco) ??
If you have sync = 0 then zttool

bcmxcp - Powerware 9125
I'm currently testing the bcmxcp driver for NUT, and it causes me some
trouble. And when scanning the archives it seems like the 3110 USB problem
reported recently.
The bcmxcp daemon stops running, and the logs shows the following:
Oct 6 14:22:32 host.dom.tld bcmxcp[82628]: Communications with UPS lost:
Receive error (data): got -1 bytes instead of 28!!!

Security advice, please
My LAN is behind a Netgear router, which does NAT. On the CentOS server I
have fail2ban running. This morning my router reported 3 different IPs
attempting to send UDP packets to port 38950, Since each address is only seen
4-5 times, I presume that fail2ban took over after that.
GRC reports that ports are stealthed (port 143 was open, but is now closed),
but then:

Modem Calls
My office is investigating using an Asterisk PBX and also going to a VOIP
provider for our main phone connections, but one of the tricky things is that
we need to have outbound and inbound modem calls (fax too).
I see a lot of talk about faxes but no mention of modems on this list. I get
the impression that modems will be a problem for us. Is that true?
