spliting an integer
Hi there,
From the vector X of integers,
X = c(11999, 122000, 81997)
I would like to make these two vectors:
Z= c(1999, 2000, 1997)
Y =c(1 , 12 , 8)
That is, each entry of vector Z receives the four last digits of each entry of X, and Y receives "the rest".
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Dimitri

MultiISP.html documentation improvements
...DEFAULT_RT=Yes, you
can easily cause all traffic to use one provider except when you explicitly
direct it to use the other provider via shorewall-rtrules (5) or
shorewall-tcrules (5)."
Another small detail: the document suggest to put in rtrules the line:
- - shorewall 11999
But this gives " ERROR: You must specify either the source or destination in
a rtrules entry". It''s enough to substitute 0.0.0.0/0 for one of the dashes.
Hope this saves some time to others.

parallel:::newPSOCKnode(): background worker fails immediately if socket on master is not set up in time (BUG?)
...ve bug?
/Henrik
PS. The background is that I, very occasionally, observe R CMD check
error on the above (on CRAN and elsewhere) when testing my future
package. The error always go away when retested. This far I've though
this is due to port clashes (since the port is random selected in
[11000:11999]) and accepted that it happens. However, after
discovering the above, it could be due to the worker launching "too
soon".

Man page for idmap_rid
...th the RIDs 9999 and 2999, the first is a
member of the '*' domain and the second is a member of 'MYDOM' domain
As the algorithm to calculate the Unix ID is this:
ID = RID + LOW_RANGE_ID
We get two calculations
9999 + 2000 = ID
2999 + 9000 = ID
ID in both cases will be '11999' so how is Unix to know which user is
which ?

makeCluster Stall on 32-bit Windows

Sorry, I don't have access to a 32-bit W10 machine for testing.
Since the worker processes communicate using sockets I guess that the
Windows firewall on your machine is blocking R from using the necessary
ports (11000-11999). Upon first use on a freshly installed 64-bit W10 a
window pops-up -- "Windows Firewall has blocked this app", or something
like that -- where you can allow access. As long as this window is
open, the command prompt is not returned.

How to register a SIP phone on Asterisk behind NAT
...at the phone is being NATed and
has NAT turned off.
If you have the phones at the same location, then you need to configure
the phone to use different ports for both SIP Communications and RTP. I
use 5061 for the first phone and then go up from there, 5062 for second
phone. I then use 10000 to 11999 for RTP for the first phone and 12000
to 13999 for the second phone. The cisco config allows me to enter these
values also in the configuration.
If you are using some other phones, the you will need to figure out how
to configure them to do the same...basically the phones will send out
packets w...

Good day,
I'm trying the example cl <- makeCluster(2, type = "SOCK") from the makeCluster documentation and the R command prompt never returns. I am using a 32-bit Windows 10 computer. The problem doesn't happen on another 64-bit Windows 10 computer but does happen on another 32-bit Windows 7 computer. Can anyone reproduce it? Are there any other options that can be passed to

Need clarification
Hi,
I'm trying to run samba 2.2.6 + OpenLDAP as user/group
database ( not /etc/passwd). nss_ldap+pam_ldap is installed and
working OK, as I can login using ssh, or trough
console with one of ldap user.
But trying to connect to samba, when samba is ran as
#samba -d 2 -i
I get:
...
init_sam_from_ldap: User [ldapuser] does not ave a uid!
