file size and actually blocks do not match
I have a disk where serveral files have a file size that is much bigger
then the space they actually use. THe file size is bogus. In the example
below, the size is reported as 4.2MB but the file is really supposed to be
on 116K which is true accoring to du and the block list from debugfs.
However, doing a 'cat |wc' file actually gives me 4.2MB bytes. Where are
those extra bytes coming from since the inode certainly does not have the
blocks!
Doing a fcsk does not fix the situation as shown below.

Advise on slowness in bootstrapping?
I am looking at trying to use ferret/aaf to supplement my querying against a
medium and large table with lots of columns. Some facts first:
Ferret 0.11.4
AAF 0.4.0
Ruby 1.8.6
Rails 1.2.3
Medium table:
105,464 rows
168 columns (mostly varchar(20))
11 actual columns indexed in aaf plus
40 virtual columns indexed in aaf (virtual is concat of two physical columns.

Re: Load-banancing. two ip''s from one isp - solution
hi for those who was fallowing this topic I can say that
IP_ROUTE_MULTIPATH_CACHED must be disabled! After few tests I''m quite sure that this was cousing my problems. Now I''m using 2.5.15 kernel without patch of Julian Anastasov and load-balancing is working.
lartc split-access how to and http://www.ssi.bg/~ja/nano.txt now both are working fine
Now I will try to use fwmark

Strange behaviour of iptables in centos 7
Hi
strange behaviour of iptables on a centos 7.0 machine:
The following rule is in the iptables of said machine:
[root at myserver ~]# iptables -L -v -n --line-numbers |grep 175\.
9 9 456 DROP all -- * * 175.44.0.0/16
0.0.0.0/0
[root at myserver ~]#
The corresponding enty in /etc/sysconfig/iptables looks like:
[root at myserver ~]# grep 175 /etc/sysconfig/iptables

Slow concurrent actions on the same LVM logical volume
Hi 2 all !
I have problems with concurrent filesystem actions on a ocfs2
filesystem which is mounted by 2 nodes. OS=RH5ES and OCFS2=1.2.6
F.e.: If I have a LV called testlv which is mounted on /mnt on both
servers and I do a "dd if=/dev/zero of=/mnt/test.a bs=1024
count=1000000" on server 1 and do at the same time a du -hs
/mnt/test.a it takes about 5 seconds for du -hs to execute:

How to backup a slice ? - newbie
... though I tried, read and typed the last 4 hours; still no clue.
Please, can anyone give a clear idea on how this works:
Get the content of c0d1s1 to c0d0s7 ?
c0d1s1 is pool home and active; c0d0s7 is not active.
I have followed the suggestion on
http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/zfs/demos/zfs_demo.pdf
% sudo zfs snapshot home at backup
% zfs list

Shorewall and CUPS printing interference
I''m having a problem with the Shorewall firewall and CUPS printing
interfering with each other. My Linux firewall machine is acting as both
a CUPS server and client for all of my tests.
Shorewall 2.0.13
CUPS 1.1.22-2
Linux kernel 2.6.9
CUPS was working fine to print to my Epson C84 (network connected via a
Netgear PS101 print server using lpd://PS101.IP.address/raw ) until I
