...what
the UPS (and upsc) reports?
My guess its what it would expect to see so you can relate input.voltage
to it. In that respect its 230V for the territory the model is sold into
even though Tripp lite are selling it as a 240V model. Either way the
differentiation only has to deal with 2x0V versus 110V and so unlikely
to be the source of any confusion.

APC Smartups protocol - Hidden Programming Mode
...de only)
Resets everything: Voltmeter calibration, model information,
region code, manufacturing date, serial no... Chances are that your UPS
will become unusable.
True stroy: After typing ^Y, my UPS was unhappy with the line frequency
(50Hz instead of 60Hz), the voltage of both line (0V instead of 110V)
and battery. Consequence: it switched itself off - and refused to be
switched
on again. No way to talk over the serial line, no way to fix (I didn't
know how to do so anyway) the config. The solution was to hold the
On-Button pressed - I jammed a wooden stick between the button and a

Potential reboot problem with Polycom IP600 phones
...pontaneously
reboot at unpredictable times. It appears that if the amount of current
being delivered to the phone falls below a certain threshold, the phone
will reboot.
Here are the specific circumstances which will trigger this problem.
Standard AC power voltage in Japan ranges between 100V and 110V, as
opposed to the 110V to 120V in the USA. For the vast majority of
business equipment (including every Polycom product we have ever tested)
this is not an issue. However, it is an issue with the IP600. If the
transformer is receiving 100V AC -and- the speakerphone is in use -and-
the secondary...

In that case, I'm inclined to change it back to 230V before the next release, since we don't have any more accurate information as to what the 'V' digits really mean.

upsd flapping in the breeze
Hi,
I have had a long standing problem with NUT talking to 110V MGE UPSs on
FreeBSD, I was recently investigating again and noticed that upsd seems
overly noisy, eg..
May 5 03:50:36 egbert upsd[96662]: UPS [ups1] data is no longer stale
May 5 03:50:36 egbert upsd[96662]: Data for UPS [ups1] is stale - check driver

zaptel and low ring voltage
Hi all,
Several months ago we built an * box with a quad-FXO tdm400p (REV e/f).
>From the get-go, there has been a problem where occasionally (2-3 times
a week) zaptel/* will not detect the ringing on a line. (The call will
ring through to telco voicemail).
The problem is not specific to a single line or FXO port on the tdm400p.
I have 2 theories:
#1 - the ring voltage for some calls is

Ring Voltage Supplied by Wildcard TDM400P REV E/F & AUTO FXS/DPO
Hi;
I'm trying to connect a TDM400P with an FXS module to a Valcom V-9940
Paging adaptor. This port on the TDM400P was connected to a 2500 Set
and was working I just re-connected it to the Valcom (which is known to
work on a Telco POTS line) and its not picking up. The Valcom docs say
it need a minimum of 75 Volts at 20-30 Hz to recognize a call... So the
question is what ring voltage

Need Advice
...rds and shipping it down. Does anyone have
multiple TDM cards in the SC400? FXO ports on a TDM card are about
$75/FXO port.
With the Dell, there will be the advantage of trunked IAX (we're paying
for bandwidth on both ends).
Can anyone tell me if I'm missing something. The mains are 110V. What
about answer and disconnect supervision (I'm assuming there isn't any on
the FXO circuits).
Is there some other way to do this for around $500?
Thanks for your help,
Mike

MGE Pulsar EX over serial problem (FreeBSD)
We have several systems in remote locations and I have found that the ones in
the US are having issues.. We are an Australian company and can't source a
110V UPS locally so we arrange to have one bought for the site when it's
installed.
It seems that in the US we are getting "Pulsar EX 1500" UPSs but locally we
buy "Pulsar 1500". NUT seems to work find with the later but the former loses
communication very often.
When it los...

OT: carrying a router, firewall, switch, ser ver, some phones with me on flight to Europe
Well here's a suggestion - a little crazy - but works... Most equipment is
taking the 120vac and converting it into DC voltage. So why not just feed it
DC voltage directly???
We had a situation where our field techs needed to test dsl circuits and
voip ata from the demarcation point outside a house or business. A UPS might
have worked - but the down conversion of 12v dc battery in ups up to

Dear Fellow *-ers,
First, you guys are fantastic. Keep fighting the good fight.
Second, it sounds like comments in the code are coming, which sounds
welcome by all, even those of us who couldn't code their way out of a
papersack, but who need to read the source.
Last, I might be traveling to Europe (from US) & want to tow along
hardware & haven't done this before & was

Incorrect values returned from usbhid-ups
I have the same issue of incorrect output voltage being reported by usbhid-ups, as run on NAS4Free (FreeBSD). UPS is as shown below. There is a thread on this list from 2014 that has these same issues, apparently never addressed by any of the later usbhid-ups releases. I?m using 2.7.3.
The value I am especially concerned with is the output voltage; if ANY thing should be right on the report, it?s

megatec over USB - new driver patch
...write a driver for it I had two options -- either add
support to energizer driver or add another communication layer to
megatec protocol. I did not like energizer driver approach - the
energizer driver is a hack by itself, does not support all of megatec
protocol (and especially assumes that UPS is 110V rated rather then use
F command), and uses hiddev. In my case there was no way to use a hiddev
(tables ar flawed) and anyways libusb seemed to be much more robust
alternative. I choose to change megatec driver. Since usb drivers go to
separate package I creates a new driver megatec_usb . The change...
