T.38 on a MAX/Lucent/Ascend TNT
...The modem is
connected directly to the channel bank and the channel bank is connected
directly to the TNT in an attempt to reduce the number of variables.
With my current configuration, the call to Asterisk will come up as a
voice call, then be dumped into t38modem when Asterisk receives the
1100Hz CNG tone from the sending modem. At that point, the call is
dumped into t38modem which re-invites the TNT with the T.38 options, and
the TNT usually sends a T.38 t30-ind of 0x00 (no-signal) or 0x3a (???),
although I do occasionally see more promising messages like
v29-7200-training or t30-data...

rxfax() problem - fax signal seems to be ignored
...34224 and
fax-tx-audio-b7933500-070905134224) appeared in /tmp.
I used Cool96 (an old Win98 free program) to import this audio data (8KHz
mono 16bit PCM-Intel), and it appears that there is currently no fax
synchronisation nor negotiation at all.
All I see in Cool96 is that the fax send its CNG (a 1100Hz tone during
0.5severy 3 seconds), and that Asterisk application app_rxfax() answer
with an
exactly identical tone.
I am not very specialist of T.30 protocol, but I thought that in this case
SPANDSP would have answered with a CED tone (a 2100Hz tone during 2.5s),
like explained here (http://www.eico...
