What is the degrees of freedom in an nlme model
Dear all, I want to do a F test, which involves calculation of the degrees of freedom for the residuals. Now say, I have a nlme object "mod.nlme". I have two questions 1.How do I extract the degrees of freedom? 2.How is this degrees of freedom calculated in an nlme model? Thanks. aggrete data from combination
Dear R users, A have a dataframe (matrix) with two collumns (plot, and diameter (d)). I want all diameters values for different combination of plots. For example I want all d values for all posible combination, 100C2 (all d values for plot 1 with all d values in the plot 2.......with all d values from plot 1 with all d values from plot 100, ...... with all d values from plot 99 with all d values

strange results in summary and IQR functions
Dear R users, Something is strange in summary and IQR. Suppose, I have a data set and I would like to find the Q1, Q2, Q3 and IQR. x<-c(2,4,11,12,13,15,31,31,37,47) > summary(x) Min. 1st Qu. Median Mean 3rd Qu. Max. 2.00 11.25 14.00 20.30 31.00 47.00 > IQR(x) [1] 19.75 However, I test the same data set in SAS "proc univariate", and SAS shows that

Hi, I'm having especially hard time today and couldn't find any clue/answer through the internet. ?I hope you can help. I'm in a process of writing a script to estimate error correction model, and I was following an example in Bernhard Pfaff's Analysis of Integrated and Cointegrated Time Series with R. ?I have the following price data: > head(series,15) ?? ? ? ? ? Hello, I'm cc'ing R-Help. Sorry but your question was asked 3.5 years ago, I really don't remember it. Can you please post a question to R-Help, with a reproducible example that describes your problem? Rui Barradas ? Question on creating Date variable
Hello all, Let say I have following (numeric) vector: > x [1] 11.00 11.25 11.35 12.01 11.14 13.00 13.25 13.35 14.01 13.14 14.50 14.75 14.85 15.51 14.64 Now, I want to create a 'Date' variable (i.e. I should be able to do all calculations pertaining to date/time and also time-series plotting etc.) like 2012-12-31 11:00:00 AM, 2012-12-31 11:25:00 AM, 2012-12-31 11:35:00 AM,

ifelse() and missing values in test conditions
R experts, I have been unable to get the following ifelse statement to work as desired when applied to my data frame. Example: DF$ANYEF <- with(DF,ifelse(PSOUGHT1=='ANY'|PSOUGHT2=='ANY'|PSOUGHT3=='ANY',PEFF,0)) ##### this statement will be replicated 16 times for 16 unique _EF variables ### Basically, I want each ANYEF for each row to equal the corresponding row

[ggplot2] Wind rose orientation
Aloha all, I love using ggplot. It took a while to get used to the grammar of graphics, but it is starting to get easy now that I am thinking in a more structured way. A question. I'm making a wind rose that I'd like to be oriented with due north straight up. I've discovered that the orientation is sensitive to how north is represented. When north is represented as 0,

Curve Fitting
I am having troubles in fitting functions of the form y~a*x^b+c to data, for example x<-c(0.1,0.36,0.63,0.90,1.166,1.43, 1.70, 1.96, 2.23) y<-c(8.09,9.0,9.62,10.11,10.53,10.9, 11.25, 11.56, 11.86) I tried for example with nls, which did only work with really good initial guessed values. Any suggestion, what I should use? Thanks a lot Thomas [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

histograms resulting from call to soil.texture
Hello, Using the dataset below I produce a soil.texture plot (R code for this included at the end). One will notice I have plotted the points based on whether or not they are in a region called 'upstream' or 'downstream'. I'm curious if there is a way to somehow extract counts of the number of points (red points and blue points) falling within each classification (e.g. silty

Is there any way to check the class of an ALTREP?
Thank Denes for the clarification, glad to see my package got one citation from my own question:) Also, thank Benjamin for sending many useful documents. Actually, the question is related to the SharedObject package that Benjamin has pointed to. I wanna avoid sharing an object that has already been shared, so I need to check whether an object is an ALTREP that is defined in my package. Since the

Is there any way to check the class of an ALTREP?
Benjamin, You happened to send a link which points to the OP's own package :) I think Jiefei would like to know how one can "officially" determine if an arbitrary ALTERP object belongs to a class that he owns. Cropped graph using lattice
I'm fitting data from a mixture experiment, and I'd like to present the results in a ternary graph with contours. I found this code by Walmes Zeviani http://n4.nabble.com/Triangular-filled-contour-plot-td1557386.html which is just what I want--except I would like the axis titles and labels to be proportionately larger than the ternary graph itself, for legibility in publication. SIP TLS not working, Asterisk 16.9.0
Hi, I have problems with SIP via TLS. Asterisk works as a client. The TCP connection is established, followed by a client hello from Asterisk to the server. The server sends Server Hello, Certificate, Server Key Exchange and Server Hello Done. Than Asterisk sends back a Alert (Level: Fatal, Description Handshake Failure). The following line appears in the log: ast_iostream_start_tls: Problem
