solaris 10U7
I just noticed that my zpool is still running v10 and my zfs filesystems are on v3. This is on solaris 10U3. Before upgrading the zpool and ZFS versions I''d like to know the supported versions by solaris 10 update.7 I''d rather not make my zpools unaccessable ;)

Adding zvols to a DomU
I''m trying to add extra zvols to a Solaris10 DomU, sv_113 Dom0 I can use virsh attach-disk <name> <zvol> hdb --device phy to attach the zvol as c0d1. Replacing hdb by hdd gives me c1d1 but then that is it. Being able to attach several more zvols would be nice but even being able to get at c1d0 would be useful Am I missing something or can I only attach to hda/hdb/hdd?

incremental backup with zfs to file
...? I know how to recreate the root pool and how to restore the first one (.../snaps/rpool.0908) But what is the exact zfs syntax to restore the second file on top of the first one, containing the differences between the two? -- Dick Hoogendijk -- PGP/GnuPG key: 01D2433D + http://nagual.nl/ | SunOS 10u7 5/09 | OpenSolaris 2009.06 rel + All that''s really worth doing is what we do for others (Lewis Carrol)

Building rattle on Solaris 10u7 X86
We have tried to build rattle on Solaris 10 X86 platform, and the results are : 1. Package XML and pmml can be built. 2. Package RGtk2 can be built but can’t be installed because the installer can’t find GTK on Solaris, but it seems GTK has been preinstalled on Solaris 10, but I don’t know how to configure it. 3. There are errors when building the cairoDevice package , the error

How to know the recordsize of a file
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I would like to know the blocksize of a particular file. I know the blocksize for a particular file is decided at creation time, in fuction of the write size done and the recordsize property of the dataset. How can I access that information?. Some zdb magic?. - -- Jesus Cea Avion _/_/ _/_/_/ _/_/_/ jcea at

Package RPostgreSQL_0.1-6.tar.gz has been checked and built
Hi Dirk I think there are problems with pg_config, the configure script of RPostgreSQL checks for pg_config and got ¡°checking for pg_config... /usr/bin/pg_config¡±. In Solaris 10u7 X64, three versions of PostgreSQL are installed, there are in /usr/postgres/8.2(8.2.9) and /usr/postgres/8.3(8.3.3), the corresponding bin files are in /usr/postgres/<version>/bin and /usr/postgres/<version>/bin/amd64, and the libraries in /usr/bin is 8.1.11 and it seems a 32bit one, an...

zfs root, jumpstart and flash archives
I understand that currently, at least under Solaris 10u6, it is not possible to jumpstart a new system with a zfs root using a flash archive as a source. Can anyone comment as to whether this restriction will pass in the near term, or if this is a while out (6+ months) before this will be possible? Thanks, Jerry

Zfs and b114 version
http://dlc.sun.com/osol/on/downloads/b114/ This URL makes me think that if I just sit down and figure out how to compile OpenSolaris, I can try b114 now^h^h^h eventually ? I am really eager to try out the new quota support.. has someone already tried compiling it perhaps? How complicated is compiling osol compared to, say, NetBSD/FreeBSD, Linux etc ? (IRIX and its quickstarting??) --
