Shorewall and Mandrake 10.1
...After I rebooted the new custom kernel,
shorewall broke - no iptables in the kernel,
even though iptables were configured in:
CONFIG_IP_MULTIPLE_TABLES=y
CONFIG_IP_NF_IPTABLES=m
CONFIG_IP6_NF_IPTABLES=m
The mandrake source tree I used was on one
of the installation CDs:
kernel-source-2.6-2.6.8.1-10mdk.i586.rpm
However, the kernel binary that gets installed
(when installing from CD) is 2.6.8.1-10mdk
and not 2.6-2.6.8.1-10mdk
I did not find any source rpm file on the 5
installation CD''s called
kernel-source-2.6.8.1-10mdk.i586.rpm
Could this be the cause of the problem?

./tools/wineinstall
Regarding the most recent release wine20040615.
When using ./tools/wineinstall I got an error stating that a 'static'
version of glibc was required.
I'm using Mandrake 10 Official and would have thought that such a
monster was included considering the last stable release appears to be
from last year.
So, what is a 'static' version and what do I need to do to overcome this

Pb with xpm-devel
I try to install wine20010305 on a Mandrake Corporate server 1.0
the wine configuration program told me that it can't find xpm-devel
but xpm-devel3.4k-10mdk.i586.rpm is installed on my system.
I don't understand what's the problem.

I am aware this chap is running Debian and I am running Mandrake, so
after searching decided to modify the line as such -

Guidance states modify the KRNLINCL lines for the correct include path -
KRNLINCL = /usr/src/kernel-headers-`uname -r`/include

Serious stability issues
...pare server, this one also Mandrake
9.2, dual PIII/733, 256Mb. It ran well from 8pm until 4am when it also
*locked up*. Again, this hardware has been flawless 24/7 since new, and
has been running Mandrake 9.2 for over 6 months, and had latest
updates from Mandrake a few weeks ago. Kernel 2.4.22-10mdk,
shorewall 2.0.10.
This morning I applied the following updates that were new using urpmi.
Reading through the notes on these updates, I can find nothing that would
suggest an exploit or bug causing our lockups.
libxml2-2.5.11-1.3.92mdk.i586.rpm

substituted; because, when Unix sends the file name with underscores
back to Win98SE it has no file by that name.
Why am I getting only partial translation to latin-1?
Pointers to more man pages graciously accepted...

Problems compiling zaptel
Hi All,
At the suggestion of Tilghman I'm trying to compile the zaptel dummy driver to
see if it fixes the stuttering mp3 problem.
I checked out zaptel from CVS but when I try to do a 'make' I get the
following output, which terminates with an error. (I'm using RedHat 9)
Can anyone suggest why it fails to compile?
cc -I. -O4 -g -Wall -DBUILDING_TONEZONE -DSTANDALONE_ZAPATA
