Bad smbclient put performance and smbfs write performance
Hi, I've had extremely bad smbclient put performance when connecting from my Linux box to a Windows 95 box. I only get about 10KBytes/s! All other forms of data transfer work fine, and I get from 600-700KBytes/s. This is on a local 10BT LAN. I've seen a few other reports of this, but no solutions as of yet. smbclient does puts just fine to another Linux/Samba Server. I'm using Samba 2.0.3, the Linux machines are runn...

I have a local wifi network 2. my server do masquerading and exit in internet via a PPPoE connection Goals: 1. not use SQUID 2. shaping the traffic with classes 3. emule connection must have minimum priority and a band-limit of 10KBytes/s in uplink (server--->internet) Any idea? tc ingress policing with multiple subnets
Hello everybody on the list, I have the following situation where I want to police the speed of incoming packets from specific subnets to 1024kbps and then police all the rest to 256kbps, which is the speed my ISP grants for the rest of the internet. So, eth1 is the one connected to the cable modem and then to the internet. I do: tc qdisc add dev eth1 ingress handle ffff: then: tc filter

Rshaper Weirdness
...ed the rshaper.o module and modified the network driver (eepro100.c), make modules, install the new eepro100.o, and went through insmod rshaper then rshaperctl 192.168.1.10 10000 10 It''s a single NIC on an internal network (192.168.1.0/24) It was able to control the incoming bandwidth to 10kBytes per second successfully - I tried downloading a 10MB file. 3. Then I did the exact same thing on one of our production servers - compile, modify eepro100.c (it has two identical Intel EtherExpress NICs, eth0 on the external network 64.54.185.0/24, eth1 on the internal network 192.168.1.0/24), make...

Htb, imq and sfq traffic shaping
Hello, I wrote a simple traffic shaping script (below) that should have allowed me to shape my internet traffic a bit (ppp0 - adsl 128kbit/64kbit; local interface eth0). The script works only partially - the speed is being limited but too much. Without running this script my download rate is about 10kBytes (with second computer also downloading at about 6kBytes). After running it my download speed decreases to about 1..2kBytes and so the second computer. Could you tell me what have I done wrong ? Thank you for replies. 4.8-Stable DummyNet
Hi. We just opened a gaming center and have chosen to run a FreeBsd box for our firewall. IPFW is configured at it's very basic running natd through rl0 and allowing any to any connections from the lan to the outer world. Natd controls access to the lan. We have a 6.0 mb/s ADSL net connection for all the gaming clients to use, however if a gamer starts downloading a file, that file

Shaping traffic on heavily oversubscribed links?
Hi all, I am having some fun with traffic shaping, and have run into an interesting situation. Here is South Africa, most internet links are heavily oversubscribed, which means that in most cases the local link is _not_ the bottleneck, and shaping on the local link does not help that much... Does anybody have some tips on shaping such links? How can you get interractive traffic if you

cbq dosen''t shape on MARK for one host.. strange!
Hello all, this is my first post here. Sorry for my english. Gentoo LAN router, 2.4.26-hardened-r2 There are 2 WAN links, one LAN link. I am doing some iptables/routing/tc magic in my scripts. What''s interesting is marking packets traveling from all IP''s in LAN. Interesting commands are: ------------- for ip in `seq 50`; do $IPTABLES -t mangle -A FORWARD -o eth2 -d
