create mask not fully working?
Hi I have Debian/stable and samba 3.2.5. I have set this (smb.conf): ... create mode = 0770 directory mask = 0770 ... and the files created have those permissions: drwxrwx--- 2 piotrlg piotrlg 22 2010-05-06 14:51 nowy3 -rwxrw---- 1 piotrlg piotrlg 10752 2010-05-06 14:51 nowy3.doc please note the lack of x bit for group file permission (for directory it works as expected). I have to use force create mode = 0770 to set x for groups. What is going on? Regards P.

"inherit acls" only works with "inherit permissions"
We are running a fileserver (Samba version 3.0.10-1.4E.9) on CentOS 4.4. No AD, clients are Windows XP and OS X. Linux acl's are used for access to directories and files. Each top-level folder belongs to a primary group with mode 2770. The acl's restrict access to lower level directories. We need to pass the acl's down the directory tree or else users may have unexpected access to

kernel: locore.s doesn't assemble (fillkpt, $PAGE_SHIFT, $PTESHIFT)
since august 8th, 2003 the kernel on my i386 pentiumIII won't compile. the problem arises in locore.s with the definition of the constants $PAGE_SHIFT and $PTESHIFT used in `shr' and `shl' instructions within the macros `fillkpt' and `fillkptphys'. i've tried to cvsup(1) RELENG_4 and RELENG_4_8 every day for over a week now, but kernel builds (as part of a buildworld)

Word open all DOC files read-only on Samba shares
Hello all, I just switched my old server to a new machine, upgrading the Samba server from 3.0.1 to 3.4.5 (-55.fc12). When Word (Office2003) tries to open a *.DOC file, it takes a very long time (about 10 seconds) then the file is opened Read-Only... If I try to open a *.RTF file it opens very fast, and I can write it... I'm scratching my head for the whole day and what I've

Convert bytes to kb or mb in words
Using File.size(myfile) I can get the size of the uploaded file in _bytes_. Does anybody know of a function to convert bytes into a more human readable format? If I had a wish list for a "file_size_in_words()" function, it would do this: 10752 bytes becomes "10.5 Kilobytes". 2213814 bytes becomes "2.1 Megabytes". 238 bytes becomes "Less Than 1 Kilobyte". Maybe I need to learn how to write a plug-in and figure it out! Or maybe somebody has done this and can point me in the right direction. Thanks! Jeff ---...

"moving product", by rows, of a dataframe?
What is a "good" way to calculate the "moving product", for each row of a dataframe, where I wish to be able to specify the length of the moving product? Depending on my needs, I'd like to be able to specify the "length" over which to calculate the moving average (in this example, length=3). For example, if I have a dataframe with 20 rows and 6 columns, and I
