Calculate Distance and Aggregate Data?
Hi all, I've been struggling learning R and need to turn to the list again. I've got a dataset (comma-delimited file) with the following fields: recid, latitude, longitude, population, dwelling and age. For each observation, I'd like to calculate the total number of people and dwellings and average age within 2 k.m. Distance could be Euclidean, however, a proper distance

Migrating samba file server OS, group id different on the source and the target server.
...d #idmap config CCDC : range = 10000-20000 etcc. ) now I have a file share test enviroment based on ubuntu 14 and samba4 . I have noticed that the groups and the users have completely different group and user ids. For example the group domainusers has gid 10003 on the old server and gid 10122 on the new one. Because all the file share directory are mounted on dedicated disks, the Idea of the migration is to detach the disks from the old file server and attach them to the new one. However because of this group discrepancy, all the access permission rights will be messed up. Considering...

Deployment: Segregating static files from RHTML
All, I am deploying on a production system using Apache/fastcgi. I would like Apache to take care of all of my static files and dispatch.fcgi to take care of all of my Ruby templates. In order to achieve this separation, do I need to set up two vhosts in Apache, one to serve static content and one to serve dynamic content? Has anyone done this in production and can point me to the right

"Too many levels of symbolic links" with glusterfs automounting
I set up a 3.3 gluster volume for another sysadmin and he has added it to his cluster via automount. It seems to work initially but after some time (days) he is now regularly seeing this warning: "Too many levels of symbolic links" $ df: `/share/gl': Too many levels of symbolic links when he tries to traverse the mounted filesystems. I've been using gluster with static mounts
