samba transfer speed on shares
...XP -> linux, The speed is great. But from
linux->XP my speed drops off drastically.
Now, if I mount my D: drive onto my linux file system, I get good speeds
both ways when using the command line to do the copying.
Also, ftp speeds are fast and consistent both ways.
Map drive
xp->linux: 100megs/18secs
linux->xp: 100megs/30 minutes
Drive mounted on linux fs
xp->linux: 100megs/12secs
linux->xp: 100megs/12secs
similar speed for FTP
Has anyone seen something similar to this situation? Please let me know
if I can clear any of this information up or provide detailed
settings/configu...

sum of child rates exceeds parent rate
Hi,
i have created a parent class with 45Meg rate/ceiling
Note : The actual traffic flowing via that pc is around 6Meg to 15Meg
I assume the problem will come only when the traffic is more than 45Meg.
Now if i create child classes whose sum of rates crosses more than 45Meg ?
1.How that tc behaves.
2.Will this affect browsing.
Pls let me know this details
Regards

Icecast's YP bugs
...f the other two bugs, which I personally think
are more serious...
1) The memory leak issue caused when Icecast has streams rejected from
a YP server, reproduce either with a broken YP CGI or with a
non-existant YP server.. with many streams getting rejected causes a
Icecast server to consume over 100megs in less than an hour
2) Icecast continually (every 15 seconds or so, apparently) trying to
re-publish rejected streams vs "holding off" for a reasonable amount of
time before retrying. This is this causing the memory leak issue to
grow much larger than it would otherwise, it could poten...
