OpenSSH + GeodeLX + Linux + Cryptodev = Corrupted MAC on input.
...up Debian Lenny on a PCEngines ALIX. This board have a
GeodeLX processor with hardware crypto accelerator, so I patched my
kernel to get cryptodev support.
Everything is fine when playin with openssl, but openssh just crash when
a large amount of data is transfered.

Traffic going to wrong interface?
I have a samba server with 2 ethernet ports, one of which is a gigabit port.
When connecting from a windows client that has a crossover to the gigabit
port, and a crossover to the 100Meg port:
If I connect via \\gige.ethernet.address\foo , and copying a large file,
windows reports outbound traffic on the gige port and return traffic on the
100Meg port.
Thus, it seems the samba server sees the client->server traffic via gige but
is responding via the slower interface. Not what...

SUSE 9.2
...have been
working on Windoze for about 6 months and have experienced many
problems. I have been introduced to Linux (Suse 9.2) when I visited
the Science center in the Vacation Period.
I have installed Suse on my Dads Laptop and the Laptop is inturn
connected to a network by means of a 100meg Switch. On the Network we
have a PDC whichruns a Domain called WORK and on the PDC we have
various shares
and Users including mine. (The PDC IS RUNNING NT)
I have managed to set up SUSE in such a way that it notices the WORK
Domain when configuring the Network with Samba (Quite cool). Once...

Monitoring progress of fsck.ocfs2
Hello Everyone,
I just ran fsck.ocfs2 on /dev/drbd0 which is a one gig partition on a
vm with limited resource (100meg of ram).
I am worried that the process crashed because it has not responded in
the past hour or so?

How to calculate exact bitrate/filesize w/ Vorbis? Plz help
...BUT FOR THE LIFE OF ME: I cannot get oggenc (1.0x version) to give me the file size I want. I calc. it with the above formula, and nothing comes out right. Then I do ratios: if I give 80kbit + I get 160 meg file (and I want a 100 meg file), then i give: x=100*80/160= 50kbit, yet I don't get a 100meg file.
Help. Am I missing something? Maybe coz I'm new to Ogg. Please help me figure it out, coz I definately hear it beating mp3 hands down on some sample tests (of movies) that I've done.
PS1. Please CC me at: dark4venger _at_ netscape.net as I'm not subscribed to this mailing list....

ADSL traffic shaping to improve latency
Hello.
I have a 1024/256kbit ADSL and tried to shape outgoing traffic in order
to improve latency.
Here is my config.

UP70="$[7*$UPRATE/10]kbit"
UP30="$[3*$UPRATE/10]kbit"
UP20="$[2*$UPRATE/10]kbit"
UPRATE="${UPRATE}kbit"

Distributed Setup Suggestions
My company is approx 200 users. We have 10 offices each with 5-30 users
each. A few offices work independently, but there has been a lot more
inter-office work lately. I am looking for a way to provide fast local
access to files stored in the same office as the user, but also acceptable
performance for inter-office file transfers.
We are currently using Oracle Drive for a central file server, it

Rails Camp Scaling Session notes
...* In cases when you have to wait for things to do stuff –
backgrounddrb is used. This releases the lock on the worker. Also look
at ‘merb’ – mongrel plus erb. First use for this is image upload.
* In a typical rails environment image upload locks process.
* Worst case – 100Meg mongrel processes, 1000threads
simultaneously. That’s 100Gig, @ 16Gig per machine makes for 8
machines.. Not a big deal.
Array implementation and rails calls
* Supposedly each rails call creates 60000(!) arrays.
* There is a patch to make Array implementation quicker – but it is

big size file uploading problem w/IE
...FireFox a 20 meg file was sent in 9 seconds.
With IE the same file could not be sent.
( for 5 mins client and rails server gave no responses )
Firefox can send a 100Mbyte file.
According to MS ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/329781/en-us ),
IE w/ modified registory ( 8kb -> 32 kb) can send a 100meg file
but take looooong time.
it seems that while uploading files, rails action "upload_file" was kept
waiting, because there are no action log in the log file.
my question is :
Is there any way in Rails to receive a big file from popular browsers in
stable and rapidly?
I confirmed ab...

pfifo_fast as leaf qdisc for htb classes
Thank you Andy! I did''t find why I could''t use the fw
match in ingress. Now it works.
Now I ran into another problem:
When I try to add a pfifo_fast leaf qdisc dor htb
classes it seg.-faults. Is pfifo_fast a special qdisc?
I can succesfully add other type of qdiscs.
I found that a similar problem was reported in
february on a MIPS architecture.

outbound IAX calls bog down DSL
Evening,
I've got * asterisk up and running with nufone account for inbound and
outbound calls from the world... everything works quite nicely except that I
noticed last night that when I have a call active from * to nufone, web
surfing on the network slows to a crawl... additionally, I have a VPN tunnel
to another office (using CIPE) and while inter-office (i.e. - SIP to SIP)

PQ questions
Hi all,
First, let me say I''ve been most impressed with how quickly and
professionally people on this list ask and answer questions.
Next, let me say that with which I need help is properly configuring strict
PQ, and gathering certain stats. Specifically:
- I need to create a priority queue with four queues (let''s say they are of
high, medium, normal, and low priority)
- I

Fw: MS Office files on NT client
...anyone like me searches archives in vain for this problem,
the answer is turn off oplocks on the share that the NT client wishes to
save Office files to.
Don't really understand why this resolves the snag and I guess the
performance will take a theoretical hit. But with 20 client machines on a
100Meg LAN this is not really a problem.

Slow performance
I have been fighting this problem for months now. My performance under Samba
and XP has ben umbearable. The scenario is running Samba 2.2.7a under SuSE
8.0 as a PDC. The XP machine logs onto Samba and the roaming profiles are
downloaded then stops for 15 minutes or so. The network is verified 100Meg
full-duplex, FTP transfers between the machines are robust and so no
problems in connectivity. Any idea would be greatly appreciated. I have
tried different versions of Samba to no avail and have this problem on 2
different XP machines.
I have turned loglevel 3 and see the following during this t...

tc not matching
Dear all,
I''m having real problems getting tc to do anything useful at all. I''m
also under pressure to get this fixed before the students start arriving
later this month (I work in a university).
In short, I want each IP address to be hard limited to 128kbit down,
64kbit up, never to be allowed more bandwidth than this. It is also
important that the latency remains
