Simple Example isnt working (ssh/bulk traffic)
Hi, the script below should allow to get ssh connections running well while downloading, but even the 100kbps (100kbyte/s?) doesnt work - can still download with 500+kb/s. Whats wrong? INTERFACE=eth0 #clear all on $INTERFACE tc qdisc del dev $INTERFACE root tc qdisc add dev $INTERFACE root handle 1:0 htb default 15 #root qdics, allows borrowing for its children tc class add dev $INTERFACE parent 1:0 classid...

Key frame bitrate
...the bandwidth peaks caused by key frames are so high that most key frames get dropped in UDP traffic. The peaks are so strong that I still get many packet loss artifacts when sending with 1Mbit/s bitrate on a 2Mbit/s connection. I measured delta frames to be around 12kbyte and key frames up to 100kbyte in 1280x720 video at 15fps even with lowest rate buffer settings. I can send 2Mbit/s without errors when using heavy traffic shaping, but this causes clearly visible delay. In pre-1.0 API there was a parameter to set the bitrate for key frames which would probably help a lot with this. Is there...

ARM7 decode resource requirements
Hi Jean-Marc Thanks, >>>> I've never measured that, but it shouldn't take too much space, especially if you disable all the code (and possibly codebooks) that aren't used. so the 100kbyte ROM value quoted by Tom in his earlier mail should reduce if I cut out all the encoder code? Poor ipsec performance with policy match
Hello ! I have a performance issue with Kernel 2.6.X and policy match support as suggested in http://shorewall.net/IPSEC-2.6.html. My IPSEC performance doesn''t exeed about 30kbyte/sec even if my downlink is 1024kbit/sec and should reach more than 100kbyte/sec. No, its not the cpu''s performance (AMD Barton 2500+) and no it''s not the gateway (CELERON 600 Mhz) on the remote side. If I disable ipsec in my /etc/shorewall/hosts which looks like this: #ZONE HOST(S) OPTIONS net ppp0:0.0.0.0/...

Slow death-spiral with zfs gzip-9 compression
I am [trying to] perform a test prior to moving my data to solaris and zfs. Things are going very poorly. Please suggest what I might do to understand what is going on, report a meaningful bug report, fix it, whatever! Both to learn what the compression could be, and to induce a heavy load to expose issues, I am running with compress=gzip-9. I have two machines, both identical 800MHz P3 with
