winbind uid problem
I have installed winbind and it is working, but I need to change the
uid/gid being used by winbind since I am running into some conflicts with
UIDs.
UID 10071 is being used by my spamfilter and winbindd is also mapping one
of the user IDs from the W2K3 server to 10071.
In an attempt to change this, I modified my smb.conf file as follows.
[global]
workgroup = MO
idmap gid = 15000-20000
idmap uid = 15000-20000

Times series data file?
Hello,
I currently splitting a file into individual files (time series each
separated into one file), the file I read in skips the first four lines
and extracts the data columns I need. I was wondering if there is a way
for R to automatically scan and separate the files based on the head
information?
The header delineates the observation with a 254 space time space day
space month space

script/console colors on Windows?
Seems like people running on other operating systems get some kind of
syntax coloring in their script/console (and maybe irb?) sessions.
Anyone know if that''s possible on XP?

Matching Group ID Numbers With Names
...wxrwx--- 3 MIS+psch MIS+Carb 4096 Sep 2 11:10 MyFolder
Drwxr-xr-x 3 MIS+dzoo MIS+Carb 4096 May 21 2003 ThatFolder
As you can see, MIS+Carb is all I can see, but the name of the two groups is
Carbon_Mine and Carbon_Yours. When I do the command "ls -ln" (without
quotes), I get 10000 and 10071 as the IDs.
Is there a file somewhere that I can open and read or a command I can type
in that will show me which ID gets matched to which name? I am running an
older Samba version, (2.2.7a I think it currently is). Here is the excerpt
from the smb.conf file:

FreeBSD not-so-stable
I have a FreeBSD 4.8-Release machine that I upgraded from a 4.5 or 4.4
machine. It works just great for about 9 days, then processes will not
die. It starts to become a problem when I can't kill processes, restart
services, connections hang, and I can't reboot or shutdown, I have to do
a hard reset.
I can't really find anything in the logs to indicate what is giving me
