[OT] Rails hosting question -- video centric
This is OT in the sense that it''s yet another hosting question and not strictly a problem I''m having with Rails. Basically, I trust and appreciate the knowledge of the folks on this list so I''m hoping for some insight. I have a new project that I''ll be starting up soon. It''s basically going to feed videos. The webapp piece is trivial. I''m

OT: Anyone have experience with completelydedicated.com?
Guys, I''m in the market for a reliable, trustworthy dedicated server solution. I''ve been running my own servers internally on a Speakeasy Static IP DSL connection, but recent problems with my local loop has caused me to reconsider this solution. completelydedicated.com offers a value Sempron for $59/monthly...a bit higher than I wish to go but I have no choice. HP Envy EFI problem after BIOS update
Hi Jim, Thanks for this. I looked into what you said, and once happy I ran the command you gave. It appeared to work as it did not come up with any errors, and the output from efibootmgr showed 1) Centos had been added as an option and 2) it was the first in the boot sequence. However, when I rebooted the laptop went straight into Win8, and after rebooting back into KDE Live, the option is

Noob, installing rails on a goDaddy virtual server?
Hi, I''m completely new to all of this. Not even certain this is an appropriate forum for an installation question. I''m just about to plunk down some money to get a virtual server. In looking over the list of isp''s elsewhere on this site, goDaddy isn''t mentioned - probably because they don''t offer rails as a standard distribution. There are some

Rails VPS Business Hosting
Greetings, Does anyone have experience with Rails VPS hosting? I''m basically looking for a hosting reseller option so I can have control of my clients domains and hosting. I''m looking for something easy to use; although I like learning it all, and am learning a lot, I am most definitely not a command line linux user type as of yet. The one that I''ve looked at

Different Sized Disks Recommendation
Hi, I was first attracted to ZFS (and therefore OpenSolaris) because I thought that ZFS allowed the used of different sized disks in raidz pools without wasted disk space. Further research has confirmed that this isn''t possible--by default. I have seen a little bit of documentation around using ZFS with slices. I think this might be the answer, but I would like to be sure what the

3TB External USB Drive isn't recognized
We have a 3TB external USB drive that I am trying to attach to some CentOS5 servers. I have tried an older Dell PE1950 and a newer R310 but neither one seems to be able to read the drive. It works no problem on windows servers/workstations and I was able to format with NTFS. I know there are different methods for formatting large disks but this one doesn't even seem to show up as a /dev/

OT -- Inexpensive CentOS dedicated servers?
Hey all, I am looking to get some input regarding inexpensive dedicated servers -- preferably with a hosting company the offers CentOS as an OS option. Does anybody have any input or recommendations? I'd really like to support a company that uses CentOS. And there are _so many options out there, is kind of overwhelming. Thanks, Ryan

Resize command syntax wrong?
Currently the resize command is under filesystem, and takes a path to the mounted filesystem. This seems wrong to me. Shouldn''t it be under device, and take a path to a device to resize? Otherwise, how can a resize operation when you have multiple devices make any sense? -- To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-btrfs" in the body of a message to
