1.0beta to latest and greatest?
dear dovecot users, This is my first post and with a rather embarassing question. To soften the question up I just want to say I've been very pleased with Dovecot thus far and its low maintenance requirements - perhaps to pleased! I am running an ancient version of Dovecot, version 1.0.beta9. Do I risk corrupting indices etc by upgrading in one go to 2.1.2? Thanks for your input. Charles

problems with 1.0beta[78] on RHEL3
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I've been running 0.99.13 on RHEL 3 for over a year now and finally decided to upgrade to the 1.0 series. unfortunately, I only have one RHEL 3 machine which is my production machine. So, while doing all my preliminary testing I was doing so on a FC 3 machine. I got everything to a stage where I felt comfortable doing the upgrade but I'm

Hello all. I''m trying to figure out vastSky on xcp1.0 beta. As we all know, it has been integrated to the xcp. That''s just about all one can find about the matter. Been trying to google a lot, but with no luck. I''ll write here what information I''ve gathered, what I tried and how far I managed to get with this. I include information about my hardware, in case it

Hi All I have postfix deliver the mail in virtual maildirs using the UID of user dovecot. I authenticate users trying to access their mailboxes via IMAP through winbind. The authentication is successfull but dovecot logs imap(username): Date "Error: openidir (vmail/domain/username) failed: Permission denied. Security hole #2: Off-by-one buffer overflow with mmap_disable=yes
Version: 1.0test53 .. 1.0.rc14 (ie. all 1.0alpha, 1.0beta and 1.0rc versions so far). 0.99.x versions are safe (they don't even have mmap_disable setting). Problem: When mmap_disable=yes setting is used, dovecot.index.cache file is read to memory using "file cache" code. It contains a "mapped pages" bitmask buffer. In some conditions when updating the buffer it allocates

Outlook anonymous IMAP login
Hello guys, I'm trying to setup anonymous IMAP login on a bunch of Outlook clients, but it doesn't seems to work. I'm using dovecot-0.99.14-r1, on a Gentoo Linux OS. Using command line anonymous login, it's working just fine: youri / # telnet localhost 143 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. * OK dovecot ready. . CAPABILITY *

Maildir, imap and newness of messages
I'm using the standard Dovecot 0.99.14 on Fedora Core 4, with a Maildir++ mailbox. I've noticed what I think is an oddity in the way dovecot handles messages: According to the Maildir specification, a message in Maildir/new is a truly new message, which has not yet been touched by any reader. From an IMAP viewpoint, such a message should have the flag RECENT. However, if a message exists

Pocket Outlook
Hi all, Another user posted the same thing a few months back... after contacting them, they said they never got it working. I'm unable to get Pocket Outlook, or FlexMail 2006 working on Dovecot 0.99.13. According to the logs it connects just fine. With Pocket Outlook I'll see the headers for a few seconds, and then it clears and shows nothing. With FlexMail, which is supposed to have

Reading the index / log files
Dear Dovecot, I have a user who claims his mail is being lost. I can find the message marked as having been accepted for delivery in the maillog. I am hoping there is a tool which will let me read his IMAP transactions. We are delivering the messages with procmail and storing them as Maildir files. I read mail on this very same server and process about 500 mails per day. (Its the machine where

libdl and building under NetBSD
I am trying to configure vorbis-tools-1.0beta. (I already built libvorbis, libao, and libogg.) This is under NetBSD 1.5.1_ALPHA i386. My plan is to create NetBSD packages for Ogg Vorbis. My config.log has: configure:1897: gcc -o conftest -I/usr/local/include -I/usr/local/include -L/usr/local/lib/ -L/usr/pkg/emul/linux/ conftest.c -L/usr/local/lib -lao -ldl 1>&5 /usr/bin/ld: cannot

Debugging with strace
We have a dovecot install that is working fine for everyone except one user, who complains that it takes a minute or longer to delete a single message from the INBOX to Trash. This is happening for him from multiple IMAP clients so it appears to be server-side. I wanted to start up a test instance of dovecot alongside the production one and test there. So I copied dovecot.conf, put imap on

1.0 beta3 not preserving X-Keyword header?
We've been putting 1.0 Beta 3 through the paces on our test system, and one of our users pointed out to me that Thunderbird's "labels" behave strangely on the new server. In fact, there used to be a header added to the message via IMAP when Thunderbird placed a label on a message, but as of the switch from 0.99.11 to 1.0beta3, this label header is no longer placed in the
