mod_fcgid-1.09 released. Adds DefaultMinClassProcessCount
No more long delays because every dispatch.fcgi got killed for reaching
max idle time.
mod_fcgid is a GPL, binary-compatible alternative to mod_fastcgi.
mod_fcgid is recommended over mod_fastcgi when using Apache2.
This release gains a feature that many on Apache2 has been waiting for:
DefaultMinClassProcessCount(default 3). Idle fastcgi will not be killed
if their count is less than

z[i,j] = x[i,j] * y(i+j) ?
For the life of me I couldn't work out what to searc
I have an m*n numeric matrix x and a numeric vector y (of length m+n-1)
How do I do a calculation like this?
z[i,j] = x[i,j] * y[i+j] ?
Well, one can write a pair of loops, or write a single loop
within which we calculate a vector at a time, but ...
is there a "neat" way to do it?

Unnecessary Gem modules loaded under Rails 1.1.2
All,
Rails 1.1.2
Win XP Pro
Rubyful Soup 1.0.4
htmltools 1.0.9
I am terribly confused as to what pulling in a gem does with respect to
how many modules get loaded at runtime.
I am using two gems in my app, Rubyful Soup and htmltools.
RubyfulSoup requires one module from the htmltools gem
(html/sgml-parser).
My app requires the RubyfulSoup gem.
When I started my app, something was causing

htmltools 1.09 doesn''t play nice with ActionPack strip_tags!
All,
I''ve discovered an incompatibility between HTMLTools 1.09 (a very handy
HTML parser) and ActionPack 1.12.1.
Basically, they both do some HTML parsing and they both create a module
named HTML::Tag, which causes confusion when said Tag object attempts to
be instantiated in the ActionPack context.
That said, now I get to choose which one''s namespace to fiddle with.
But a

CLI and Dial
Hi!
I have two Asterisk installations, one being a 1.09 bristuff installation and
one 1.08 installation. In the 1.09 installation I have the "Dial" command
available on the CLI, in the 1.08 installation I don't. My question is now:
was that a new feature in 1.09 or is it a bristuff specific thing or is my
1.08 installation simply lacking features?
Thanks,
Christoph

re: questions about sip requests to asterisk 1.2
hi all,
I keep asking the question and getting no replies, so i'll keep asking :-)
In asterisk 1.09, with autocreatepeer=yes, if i send asterisk a SIP request
from SER, specifically
rewritehostport("myIP:5070"); (asterisk running on port 5070) asterisk
picks up the request and matches it to the dialplan, i.e. if in ser i was
sending to 151@myServer, it will make it

Linear regression and slope from 1
Dear R-Users,
I am new to R, so please excuse the ignorance.
I have data:
x (2.14, 2.41, 1.09, 0.17, 8.18)
y (3.81, 5.13, 0.63, 0.75, 6.35)
I would like to use simple linear regression and test 2 things:
1) slope of line of best fit is statistically different from 1
2) y-intercept is statically different from 0
Could anyone provide me with the R terminology to do this?
Thanks so much,
Dan

Hoaglin Outlier Method
I am a new user of R so please bear with me. I have reviewed some R books,
FAQs and such but the volume of material is great. I am in the process of
porting my current SAS and SVS Script code to Lotus Approach, R and
WordPerfect.
My question is, can you help me determine the best R method to implement
the Hoaglin Outlier Method? It is used in the Appendix A and B of the fo

Newer version of Zaptel with 1.0 branch of *
Is it possible to run the CVS-HEAD/Stable version of Zaptel (1.2 whatever)
with an older version of Asterisk? I'm running 1.09, but I was wondering if
I could get at the newer echo cancellers like KB1 and MG2 without upgrading
to Asterisk 1.2?
I'm going out on a limb here to try and fix a serious echo problem on a TDM
+ BT PSTN line in the UK
Thanks for your suggestions everyone

Mixed GLM methodology and execution question
Hi all,
I have a question regarding how to properly analyze a data set and then how to perform the analysis in R.
First,
I have data that I would like to analyze using a mixed GLM (I think this is the most appropriate method, but I am unsure). In a mixed model (y = X*beta+Z*gamma+epsilon), I would like to structure the variance matrices of gamma, G, and the error, R, to take advantage of all my

The not-working stub of a function to do what I want is below,
and my problem is that I don't know how to call aggregate (or
some other function) in the context of terms in a linear model
extracted from a lm/mlm object.
