How do I 'merge' a altered subset of a data.frame back into the same data.frame
Hi Step 1: I create a data.frame called iolm. Step 2: I create a conditional subset i_wtr. Step 3: In this subset I add 0.3 to all values in the IOLM_AST column. Step 4: Now I am looking for the best way to Œmerge¹ the altered subset back into the original iolm data.frame ## STEP 1 >iolm ID IOLM_AST IOLM_AXIS 1 1 1.15 165.33 2 2 1.20 79.00 3 3 0.40

Data frame with 3 columns to matrix
Dear R Users, Lets assume I have this data frame: x y z 1 1.00 5 0.5 2 1.02 5 0.7 3 1.04 7 0.1 4 1.06 9 0.4 x and y columns are sorted and the values not necessarily integers. z values are not sorted. Now I would like to create a matrix out of this with x as first column values and y as first row values. Matrix element a_11 shall be left NA. The a_ij should have the z value for the

Plotting the occassional second label
Dear useRs, I'm trying to plot spray quantities against dates, and label the points on the plot. Basically quite simple, but sometimes two chemicals have been used and are listed in separate rows in the table as below; then the labels are written on top of each other. > spray SprayDate PD Trt Qwater Qai 1 2005-03-09 Spidermites Pegasus 1300 1.04 2

Incorrectness of mean()
I have found following problem: I have a vector: > a <- c(1.04,1.04,1.05,1.04,1.04) I want a mean of this vector: > mean(a) [1] 1.042 which is correct, but: > mean(1.04,1.04,1.05,1.04,1.04) [1] 1.04 gives an incorrect value. how is this possible? thanks, zbynek -- View this message in context: http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/Incorrectness-of-mean-tp3327701p3327701.html Sent from the R

Can I encode now?
I saw the news about release 1.0 coming up this weekend, but was wondering if there is any reason not to encode now with the pre-release software I have. I want to use CDex with its Ogg support ("Ogg Vorbis DLL Encoder version 1.04, engine 1.04) to replace my MP3 files with Ogg -- and would like to start this weekend while I have the time. Any advice or suggestions appreciated... -- dave

Hoaglin Outlier Method
I am a new user of R so please bear with me. I have reviewed some R books, FAQs and such but the volume of material is great. I am in the process of porting my current SAS and SVS Script code to Lotus Approach, R and WordPerfect. My question is, can you help me determine the best R method to implement the Hoaglin Outlier Method? It is used in the Appendix A and B of the fo llowing link.

Conditional Data Manipulation -Cumulative Product
Hello, I have three datasets StartSignals, MainData, StopSignals and need to compound the data for each variable in MainData over dates that fall between the Start and Stop signals. (Stop signals are common and the same to all X1:X5 variables). Please see sample below: The one way I was thinking of doing this project was to setup a nested "FOR" loop and go through the three data
