yum-cron email notification doesn't appear
...um-cron and set:
# by default MAILTO is unset, so crond mails the output by itself
# example: MAILTO=root
MAILTO="root at domain.org.ua"
I see in log that yum-cron done it's job:

Questions about yum-cron
...It looks like editing /etc/yum/yum-cron.conf affects a *daily*
operation of yum-cron, whereas editing /etc/yum/yum-cron-
hourly.conf provides hourly operations. The documentation is not very
clear about this, and I'm a little confused here. In other words,
yum-cron.conf affects /etc/cron.daily/0yum-daily.cron, and
yum-cron-hourly.conf affects /etc/cron.hourly/0yum-hourly.cron.
I only really need yum-cron to run once a day, which would be
sufficient. That being said, I can't figure out at what time it
launches. All my users are in France, so ideally the daily yum-cron
should be launched s...

"Not using downloaded epel/repomd.xml"
Hi,
I'm regularly getting spammed by my own servers, with the following message:
/etc/cron.hourly/0yum-hourly.cron:
Not using downloaded epel/repomd.xml because it is older than what we have:
Current : Sat Sep 12 19:05:04 2020
Downloaded: Thu Sep 10 19:12:19 2020
How can I make this nonsense stop?
Cheers,
Niki

Yum update changes inode of file
Hi folks,
on CentOS 6.5 I run tripwire software which verifies data integrity. My
system is automatically updated by yum (as far as I understand the
/etc/cron.daily/0yum.cron is responsible for the regular system
updates). After a system update I'm then notified by tripwire about the
changes on the file system.
By browsing those tripwire reports I found that there are files which
did not change at all (i.e. the MD5 hash is the same as before) but the
inode...

packagekit yumBackend question, perhaps
Periodically I find the yumBackend python script of packagekit really slows
down my CentOS 7 system. I don't invoke anything myself which starts it and
I find nothing in crontab which does either, except perhaps
/etc/cron.hourly/0yum-hourly.cron. But I can't be sure that is the culprit.
I don't find anything at http://www.freedesktop.org/software/PackageKit
which helps me to debug this. Would someone point me in a useful direction
so that I can find out what /usr/share/PackageKit/helpers/yum/yumBackend.py
is doing, why...

yum-cron hourly errors
I receive messages like this from cron often. Not every hour, and not
consistently between the servers running CentOS, but at least two per
day. Is this normal?

yum-cron
...This may have been the case earlier this year, where it seemed to
partly install a new kernel, then not done the post-install. I *think*
that's what I'm seeing on a box with twin Tesla cards, with yum.conf:

and yet cron.daily reports:
