...It looks like editing /etc/yum/yum-cron.conf affects a *daily* operation of yum-cron, whereas editing /etc/yum/yum-cron- hourly.conf provides hourly operations. The documentation is not very clear about this, and I'm a little confused here. In other words, yum-cron.conf affects /etc/cron.daily/0yum-daily.cron, and yum-cron-hourly.conf affects /etc/cron.hourly/0yum-hourly.cron. Hi folks, on CentOS 6.5 I run tripwire software which verifies data integrity. My system is automatically updated by yum (as far as I understand the /etc/cron.daily/0yum.cron is responsible for the regular system updates). After a system update I'm then notified by tripwire about the changes on the file system. Periodically I find the yumBackend python script of packagekit really slows down my CentOS 7 system. I don't invoke anything myself which starts it and I find nothing in crontab which does either, except perhaps /etc/cron.hourly/0yum-hourly.cron. But I can't be sure that is the culprit.
