URGENT: REDHAT 6.1 STORES SAMBA PRIVATE FILES IN /etc
dear redhat,
i examined a friend's system today, to help him configure it. assuming
that he just "installed" from scratch the samba package, it appears that
you have provided a default smb.conf file for redhat 6.1 that puts samba
private configuration files in /etc. the suggested options, for example
show "smbpasswd file = /etc/smbpasswd".
this is REALLY bad.

Completely disable local keyboard input in Syslinux / Extlinux?
...load_ramdisk=1
prompt_ramdisk=0 rw printk.time=0 SLACK_KERNEL=huge.s
... the broken BIOS sends junk to Extlinux as if a key was stuck a local
PS/2 or USB keyboard (there is no local keyboard, not even a port for
one). Extlinux stops responding after displaying 2048(!) "?" characters
(0xB6).
And I can't find a way to tell Syslinux / Extlinux to completely ignore
the local keyboard and use only the RS232 interface. "console 0"
suppresses only writing to the graphics card, but it does not disable
reading the local keyboard.
Perhaps there is a way to (ab-)use the keym...

Regression of 5616?
I'm wondering if I'm seeing a regression of 5616 with 3.4.8. I'm trying to
set-up pptpd with winbind, which I'm doing on two machines on Debian lenny,
and I'm trying on Debian Squeeze now. The Windows client is saying "Error

that everything is ok, and that the client is hanging up the

[PATCH] xen: use freeze/restore/thaw PM events for suspend/resume/chkpt
Use PM_FREEZE, PM_THAW and PM_RESTORE power events for
suspend/resume/checkpoint functionality, instead of PM_SUSPEND
and PM_RESUME. Use of these pm events fixes the Xen Guest hangup
when taking checkpoints. When a suspend event is cancelled
(while taking checkpoints once/continuously), we use PM_THAW
instead of PM_RESUME. PM_RESTORE is used when suspend is not
cancelled. See
