blacklist audio device ???
...ve USB headphones I sometimes plug in.
Unfortunately every time I plug them in I have use to use audio control
panel and choose them. Why?

Seems the cheap nVidia 405 card I have installed has an audio controller
(Interestingly reported as Intel HD Audio by the sound control panel)
which I guess it has because of the HDMI interface.
Is there a way to tell the sound system to pretend that controller isn't
there? I will...

Disabling sound chip

I don't want that seen by the sound software.
That's the sound chip on my video card, probably there for the HDMI output.
For some reason, that sound device takes preference over my USB
headphones and it is really annoying

linux kernel 3.17, freeze on resume
This may not be the proper place to raise this question but I've had little luck elsewhere.
After trying again, unsuccessfully this time, to install the proprietary NVIDIA driver, I've decided to focus my efforts on the open source Nouveau driver. I've seen video drivers blamed for varying degrees of "freeze on resume" but I'm not certain that's what I'm up
