requesting help setting share permissions
Hi,
I have a share I'm trying to lock down to a specific group and I'm not
hold my mouth right. I want this share available to a single group. I
want this share to have directory permissions 0770 when a directory is
created and file permissions 0660. I want the users accessing this share
to never be able to change these permissions. When a file or directory
is created, I want the group to be the controlling group and nothing else.
I currently have:

Need help with share permissions
Hello all,
I am struggling to get share permissions to work properly.
I am currently using samba 3.6.3 with AD integration.
I want to force the following permissions:
- created/renamed/copied directories: 0770
- created/renamed/copied files: 0660
- file permissions should not be editable by Windows users.
I have tried a lot of different combinations of parameters but failed to
get the desired permissions. Most of the time I end up with 0660 for
newly created files and 0750 for newly created directories. When I
rename a just created directo...

caused by the getxattr call which is only present with vfs_fruit
activated and introduces an additional delay of ~ 0.00033 s per listed file.
strace -T reveals the following with vfs_fruit activated:

Mailbox directory permissions (LDA, 0600 -> 0660, virtual users)
Hello,
I have a quite common dovecot configuration with virtual users support:
1. User configuration is stored in MySQL database.
2. Mailboxes are owned by vmail:vmail with permission 0600 or
drwx------.
Is it possible to change mailbox mode to 0660?
Dovecot version is 2.1.7
Part of SQL configuration:

500 AS gid \

MacOSX 10.9.4 with Samba 4.1.11 and permissions weirdness
Hi folks,
I'm running CentOS 6.5 on our storage nodes, with Samba 4.1.11 RPMs from Sernet.
We're having a strange issue with MacOSX clients (testing on 10.9.4)
when writing directories.
Relevant smb.conf share portions:
create mask = 0660
force create mode = 0660
directory mask = 0770
force directory mode = 0770
nt acl support = no
With these in place, any Mac client that copies a directory across
writes the permissions for a directory as (reported directly on the
Linux storage):
u=rw
g=rwx
o=
