CentOS 6.6 KVM Windows 7 Pro VM Device USB 04e8:6860
...the hardware from the VM. Now the VM will not start because Device USB 0438:6860 is not there. I tried to remove the hardware from the VM using virt-manager but that does not remove the error message and the VM will still not start. I did manage to get the phone to be recognized as Device USB 04e8:6860 at one point but then the VM would not start because the Device was "already in use." I presently seem to have the VM in a state where the phone is now Device USB 04e8:6865 but the VM will not start because of the missing USB 04e8:6860. A Google search did not seem to provide any...

How to pass USB device to the guest VM
...Samsung KIES running on Windows 7 inside a KVM VM. This unfortunately does not seem to work as expected. My Distribution is debian unstable. I therefore have qemu-system-x86 version 1.4.0+dfsg-1exp, libvirt 1.0.3-1 and virt-manager 0.9.4-2. lsusb shows the Tab as follows: Bus 001 Device 016: ID 04e8:6877 Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd Galaxy S in Virt Manager, I can add a USB Host Device 001:016 SAMSUNG SAMSUNG_Android. This ends up in the VM as "USB 04e8:6877" and shows up in XML as <hostdev mode='subsystem' type='usb' managed='yes'> <sourc...

how do I download pictures from a dumb phone?
Inserting anything other than a USB cable into the phone seems to be a no-go. There is one slightly wider and thinner recess, but no metal is in it. It looks like a slightly less dumb model would use the same outer case and a somewhat different inner case. >From lsusb: Bus 002 Device 007: ID 04e8:6640 Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd Usb Modem Enumerator [root at localhost ~]# file /dev/bus/usb/002/007 /dev/bus/usb/002/007: character special I found my Service Guide. how do I download pictures from a dumb phone?
How do I download pictures from a dumb phone? I have a Samsung phone I bought at a Walmart. According the the front, it worships Verizon. Beyond that, I'm not at all sure what kind. If I use a real USB connector to connect it to my PC, CentOS sees it as a character special device. What, if anything, I can do with that device, I do not know. I've not found any settings related to USB. In
