File copy speed differences... writing to SAMBA is faster than reading from it??!
...the UNIX->NT case.
The 122 byte packets coming from the copy-target are the SMB command blocks.
(in case it doesn't make it, the µ is the mu symbol for micro).
Thanks,
Robert

Weird problems on solaris 7 & 8
...then sshd segfaults right
off. This turns out to be because the call to arc4random_stir is
corrupting memory and making sensitive_data.server_key non NULL. When
key_free is then called on it's UNALLOCATED storage, you get a pretty
seg fault.
2) Problem #3: snprintf doesn't like the %.100s specifier. For some
reason 00s gets printed, and all the arguments get shifted. This breaks
all sorts of things in all sorts of horrible ways. Some basic
experimentation seems to indicate that if I take the .100 bit out and
just leave %s behind that things will work. This is obviously the wron...

Need help on running Heckman Correction Estimation using R
Team,
I am trying to resolve the self-selection bias of a sample in an experiment
and would like to run the Heckman Correction Estimation using R. Can
someone help me with the R-Code... I tried searching for the discussion, but
not successful. Thanks in advance,

The commit to isohdpfx.S of 2009-05-31 looks incomplete.
The sequence of the stack pointers was swapped, but the sequence of
stack pushes was not.

I am glad too. Thank you. My ultimate goal is to ensure that R works as well
on FreeBSD as it does elsewhere.

So, why the original isohybrid image from Debian and many other
isohybrid images have mostly (but not all) "00s" in place of the "90s"?
(Considering that these images are generated mostly by xorriso, perhaps
Thomas might be able to answer?)
To ilustrate what I mean (and what I'm trying to understand), I am
presenting here the first part of Martin's isolinux.bin20170324 and the

You assume that change == breakage. Yet that assumption is baseless.
Which is what someone like Martin (R Core, and "at it" since the 80s pre-R
and 90s with the almost very beginning of R) and myself (around R since the
late 90s, somewhat involved since the early 00s) keep telling you.
At some point it might appear to be approproiiate for you to actually take

[PATCH] [FEATURE] Ogg123 range playback
A small patch (attached) to the ogg123 source (dec 15 nightly build from
CVS) that implements ranged playback a la:
ogg123 -r 12:10-13:00 file.ogg
to playback 12m:10s-13m:00s fragment from the file.ogg soundfile.
Usage:
ogg123 -r hours:minutes:seconds.fraction-hours:minutes:seconds.fraction
anything can be pretty much omitted (within reason)
[although it does not support hh:mm:ss.hh- ]
anything missing will be treated as 0, lack of punctuation results in
values being tr...

That's a fake Block0 of an Apple Partition Map. Part of mjg's layout.
Caused by isohybrid option --mac or xorrisofs option -isohybrid-apm-hfsplus.
* Fedora has it with EFI FAT filesystem in one partition and a HFS filesystem
in another partition....

Behaviour of server-side stream dump
Hi:
If a source connects to a mount that has the stream dump enabled and the
file already exists, which of the following will happen:
1. the old file is overwritten.
2. The new stream is appended to the old one.
3. Either the old or new file is written with a modified name so that they
can both exist.
Thanks,
Geoff.

Best 1.5TB drives for consumer RAID?
Which consumer-priced 1.5TB drives do people currently recommend?
I had zero read/write/checksum errors so far in 2 years with my trusty old Western Digital WD7500AAKS drives, but now I want to upgrade to a new set of drives that are big, reliable and cheap.
As of Jan 2010 it seems the price sweet spot is the 1.5TB drives.
As I had a lot of success with Western Digital drives I thought I would

t.test in a loop
Hi All,
I've been having a little trouble with creating a loop that will run a a
series of t.tests for inspection,
Below is the code i've tried, and some checks i've looked at.
I've used the get(paste()) idea as i was told previously that the use of the
eval should try and be avoided.
I've run a single syntax to check that my systax is correct and works
without any problems
