Asterisk (g729) termination on CISCO
...Hardware Support, MOS,
and Negotiation", which states that G.729b is supported on
pretty much everything except for AS5350/5400. Also that
G.729b is a "high complexity" codec that will require
twice the DSP processing. Now given all of that, has
anyone interoperated Digium (E1(4)00P, T1(4)00P) ->
Asterisk (g729b) -> CISCO termination -> PSTN. This whole
setup is for purposes of VoIP. How inter-operatable is
VoiceAge's codec with cisco's version of it?
Also in the short description of G729 on the Digium's
site, they state that "Dual Intel? Xeon 1....

RFC: Killing undef and spreading poison
...mselves. We studied two
different options:
1) a bit in the output is poison if flipping any set of poison bits in the
input may yield different values for the output bit.
For example (bitwise notation):
ppp * 000 == 000 (since flipping any of the poison bits cannot yield a
result other than zero)
00p + 00p == 0pp
ppp << 2 == p00
icmp ugt ppp, uint_max == p (special case)
2) (thanks to Sanjoy): for an operation R = A op B, bit R[i] is poison if
bit i of 'A op undef' may yield 0 and 1 (same for 'undef op B').
This one unfortunately breaks some algebraic rewrites like: x...

E1 PRI's in Australia
Hi,
Just wondering if there are any people out there using the Zaptel Wildcard
E1 interfaces on Telstra PRI?s in Australia. If so, is anyone happy to
share their config?
Thanks,
Phil

samba runaway processes
...in question often accesses the same
file from any one of a pool of machines, and it looks like
the hand-off from machine to machine isn't being dome cleanly.
That makes me nervous... anyone know if this is likely
to be an interaction with NFS???

This is a good idea, especially if it's this user's
private directory, so that other users still get oplocks.

Duplicate share contents seen
...Okay, now here is the listing of the contents of a directory as seen
locally on the Samba server:
[root@samba jerry]# ls -l /home/jerry

Now, check this out.........
This is a listing from the NT4.0 client of the same directory (drive

This is showing the same directory containing a subdirectory named

Accurate Billing

hi everyone,

I know this issue has been raised many times before, i think still the problem remains. When a call is made through a Zap channel, whether it is actually made or not (irrespective of whether, engaged, busy, or actually answered), asterisk logs it in CDRs as a call made. This makes it impossible to do an accurate billing. Has anybody found a way to overcome
