mock %post(pam) failure
I recently upgraded an internal build server from C5.2 to C5.3 and now I'm experiencing problems initializing the mock buildroot. Specifically, I'm getting the following error: ------ /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.77062: line 6: cat: command not found /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.77062: line 7: rm: command not found /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.77062: line 22: install: command not found /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.77062: line 25:

Trying to understand SELinux MSG
Hello, I received the below SELinux message today and I am trying to figure out what caused it. I see what it says under Allow Access but I am not sure this is what I really want to do without know why it happened in the first place. What should I be looking at to understand what or why this has happened? Any help I would be most grateful for. Here is the output form SELinux SUMMARY:

Want to _prevent_ upgrade to centos 5.2
Hi, With the release of 5.2 "yum update" seems to be upgrading our computers from CentOS 5.1 to CentOS 5.2. I note from release notes for 5.2 that you are only supposed to get 5.2 if you type in "yum upgrade". On two seperate machines entering "yum update" has resulted in yum geting repo information for packages with versions that only exist in the base

Member Server creates sambaDomainName LDAP entry
Short version: Why does my domain member server create a sambaDomainName entry in LDAP? Long Version: I have created a Domain Member Server for a "NT4 style" Samba domain with an LDAP backend. It is a print server, running Winbind (because it solved a group SID mapping problem and an 'invalid SID' error in syslog), and it works fine in all other respects, but this: After

pam_winbind module and "account" use
Someone on the pam mailing list suggested I try my question here. In our pam.d/imap we have: account required pam_permit.so auth sufficient pam_winbind.so try_first_pass Authentication for imap works fine with this. If we switch to : account sufficient pam_winbind.so for the first line, then logins using their AD password fail. We also have a non-AD ldap

pam_tally2 reset problems with many simultaneous connections
All, (Sorry if this is a repost, I tried without being a subscriber and saw nothing after a day, so I'm trying again after subscribing). I think this is a problem with how sshd uses PAM. Basic scenario: - sshd is configured to use PAM with pam_tally2 - Multiple clients try connecting within a small time frame - Some of the clients fail to authenticate The problem is that the tally is

FYI: solution Re: mock %post(pam) failure
Farkas' solution is exactly right. I have been banging my head against this problem for a while now and it wasn't until I finally paced myself and read carefully through the entire thread that I found this solution. Here is the procedure spelled out a bit more precisely. Get the CentOS 5.2 rpms of popt, rpm, rpm-libs, rpm-python and rpm-build. Obviously you can use most any mirror and

SELinux killed my qemu-kvm
All of a sudden, Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) on a CentOS 5.7 load will no longer run any VMs. The VM worked A-OK on the morning of 23 Feb, when I brought it up, applied the Microsoft updates, rebooted it, installed an application, rebooted again and ran several tests. Later that day, it wouldn't run. I didn't have time to diagnose, so I did some investigation a few minutes ago. Working

buildinstall problems
Hello all! I am trying to make a stripped down CentOS 5.2 distro which will all fit on a single CD containing just the base and a few other packages I need. I run buildinstall like so: sudo /usr/lib/anaconda-runtime/buildinstall --debug --version 5 --product CentOS --comps /var/www/html/centos/5.2/os/x86_64/repodata/comps.xml --release My-CentOS-5.2 --prodpath CentOS

Successful Inplace migration from 4.4 to 5.0
I was able to successfully migrate from 4.4 to 5.0 in place. I created a guide for our webhost and thought to share it with the community in general. I registered as JasonPotkanski on the wiki. As a side note, if spam on the CentOS wiki is terrible, perhaps use of Bad Behavior may be used. -Jason Potkanski Citizendium ---- All right, Here is an unholy guide for Migrating Centos 4.4 to 5.0

Broken upgrade to 5.2
Hello all, I was upgrading a CentOS 5.1 box to 5.2 remotely, and I lost my ssh connection to the server. Now when I rerun the "yum upgrade" it fails due to conflicts in the transaction check stage. Before I dig myself a deeper hole, I think I need advice. The original error I received was a conflict between python-devel and python, so I erased python-devel with the plan to
