estimating NA values against selected slots
Dear R Users, Could you please help me on the following issue? I have a real large yearly data set. For each year I have 365 flow values. Some of the flow values are not known and that’s why you will see NA written in those slots. I wanted to know, is there a way that I can estimate those values? I tried approx command but it seems least helpful for the kind of issue I am up against.

Error: cannot take a sample larger than the population
Hi, In Splus7 this statement xlrmN1 <- sample(c(0,1,2),400 ,prob=c(0.02 ,0.93 ,0.05 )) worked fine, but in R the interpreter reports that the length of the vector to chose c(0,1,2) is shorter than the size of many times I want to be selected from the vector c(0,1,2). Any good reason? See below the error. > xlrmN1 <- sample(c(0,1,2),400 ,prob=c(0.02 ,0.93 ,0.05 )) Error in

Programming Problem (for loop, random # control, 3 dimentional graph)
Dear List, This is just a programming problem which i cannot seem to figure out. I am trying to get a set of power from a test (say, kolmogorov smirnov) out of a distribution (say, G-K distribution) as follows. I am trying to reduce to pain of writing the whole set of data points (p# below) using "for" loop. However, I seem to have some problem in it as the output "M" does not

x=.94 (PR#10529)
I am using R Version 2.6.2007-11-23. I do not know if the problem exists for other values or versions I encountered a problem when searching for the number 0.94 and 0.95 in a vector of values. I illustrate it below by creating a sequence of values 2 ways and then looking for the value 0.94 (same result for 0.95). It looks like the vector generated by seq( ) is a bit off: >

Version 0.93 of GAM package on CRAN
I have posted an update to the GAM package. Note that this package implements gam() as described in the "White" S book (Statistical models in S). In particular, you can fit models with lo() terms (local regression) and/or s() terms (smoothing splines), mixed in, of course, with any terms appropriate for glms. A number of bugs in version 0.92 have been fixed; notably 1) some problems

Dovecot 0.93 released
First alpha quality release, everything critical is now implemented. From now on it's mostly stabilization and optimization. Features that can't break existing code could still be added, especially SSL and authentication stuff.

NLME: Holding constant the across group correlational structure of the fixed effects in nlme
Hello all. I was wondering if there is a way to hold constant the fixed effects correlation structure across multiple groups? For example, I have two groups and I fit a three parameter logistic growth curve where the fixed effects are free to vary across the groups. I'll paste in the code as a concrete example: > Result.NLME <- nlme(Score ~ SSlogis(Time, Asym, xmid, scal), +

reduce print accuracy
Hello everyone. Consider the following number below:  0.9333333333333333 0.9333333333333333 0.0666666666667 Is it possible to print them with less digits like 0.93 0.93 0.06 (but without losing the R's accuracy). I would like to thank you in advance Best Regards Alex [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

x and y lengths differ
I have a problem with R. I try to compute the confidence interval for my df. When I want to create the plot I have this problem: Error in xy.coords(x, y, xlabel, ylabel, log) : 'x' and 'y' lengths differ. I try this code: library(dplR) df.rwi <- detrend(rwl = df, method = "Spline",nyrs=NULL) write.table(df.rwi,file="rwi.txt",quote=FALSE,row.names=TRUE)

Today's log - yum entries
Hi list, I have the following entries, below, in today's log file (for yesterday, 10th May). I don't run the automated yum-updated and didn't run a yum update yesterday, and no packages were installed. Obviously the entries are old. I was wondering if anyone could offer an explanation? Thanks, Ned --------------------- yum Begin ------------------------ Packages
