How to find residual in predict ARIMA
Dear All, I have a model to predict time series data for example: data(LakeHuron) Lake.fit <- arima(LakeHuron,order=c(1,0,1)) then the function predict() can be used for predicting future data with the model: LakeH.pred <- predict(Lake.fit,n.ahead=5) I can see the result LakeH.pred$pred and LakeH.pred$se but I did not see residual in predict function. If I have a model: [\ Z_t =

Multiple Comparisons-Kruskal-Wallis-Test: kruskal{agricolae} and kruskalmc{pgirmess} don't yield the same results although they should do (?)
Hi there, I am doing multiple comparisons for data that is not normally distributed. For this purpose I tried both functions kruskal{agricolae} and kruskalmc{pgirmess}. It confuses me that these functions do not yield the same results although they are doing the same thing, don't they? Can anyone tell my why this happens and which function I can trust? kruskalmc() tells me that there are no

Comparing data
Hi all, i have a data set cintaining 14 columns and 11 rows. Rows represent single point and columns represent the parameter measured. I wiuld like to compare the data to see which are more alike. I used the cluster analysis, but now i ma wondering if there are some other methods, since the cluster analysis did not give me the result i like. I tried to use factanal() for factor analysis

lme4 extracting individual variance components
Hi, For further calculations I need to extract indivdual Variances of different random effects from a fitted model. I found out how to extract the correlations (VarCorr(m1)@reSumry$group1) but I was not able to find a way to extract the other components individually. To extract the Residuals I tried: (ranef(m1)@ stdErr) which unfortunately did not work. Thank you very much for your help!

Error using newdata argument in survfit
Dear R-helpers, To get curves for a pseudo cohort other than the one centered at the mean of the covariates, I have been trying to use the newdata argument to survfit with no success. How to calculate the "McFadden R-square" for LOGIT model?

Help wit matrices
Hello all, I am working with a 1000x1000 matrix, and I would like to return a 1000x1000 matrix that tells me which value in the matrix is greater than a theshold value (1 or 0 indicator). i have tried mat2<-as.matrix(as.numeric(mat1>0.25)) but that returns a 1:100000 matrix. I have also tried for loops, but they are grossly inefficient. THanks for all your help in advance. Lanre

Calculating & plotting a linear regression between two correlated variables
Hi, I have a Community (COM) composed of 6 species: A, B, C, D, E & F. The density of my Community is thus (Eq.1): dCOM = dA + dB + dC + dE + dF I would like to calculate and plot a linear regression between the density of each of my species and the density of the whole community (illustrating how the density of each species varies with variations of the whole community). For example, I would

When running the the subsets function in the leaps library, R is giving me the following error message > lvodsub <- subsets(pred, resp$LVOD) Warning message: XHAUST returned error code -999 in: leaps.exhaustive(a, really.big = really.big) but this still happens if I add the really.big option:

need a solution to an R-problem: consultant available?
I am trying to get confidence bands for a non-linear power function (y=mx^b). I thought I should be able to figure it out, but can't. Are there any R consultant? I would be willing to pay some amount of money, but not sure such consultants exist. I fit power functions to lots of data, and this would be very useful. I would ideally like to have confidence bands for the mean function and a

A quick question about lm()
I have a simple regression using lm(). If I just want to check the coefficient, I can use summary(lm())$coef; if I need the standard error, I can use summary(lm())$s, if I need the residuals, I can use summary(lm())$res. OK. How can I get the R-squares and Adjusted R-squares using $...? Is there a function, like objects(), that can show all the references for values? Thanks a lot! -- View this

Understanding linear contrasts in Anova using R
#I am trying to understand how R fits models for contrasts in a #simple one-way anova. This is an example, I am not stupid enough to want #to simultaneously apply all of these contrasts to real data. With a few #exceptions, the tests that I would compute by hand (or by other software) #will give the same t or F statistics. It is the contrast estimates that R produces #that I can't seem to
