How to avoid conversion to factors (data frame to zoo)
Hi all, I was trying to convert a data frame to a zoo object so I can use some time series functions like lag(). But it seems then everything became a factor, so I have to convert it back to numeric to run the correct regressions. Is there a way to avoid it? identifying convergence or non-convergence of mixed-effects regression model in lme4 from model output
Hi R community! I've fitted three mixed-effects regression models to a thousand bootstrap samples (case-resampling regression) using the lme4 package in a custom-built for-loop. The only output I saved were the inferential statistics for my fixed and random effects. I did not save any output related to the performance to the machine learning algorithm used to fit the models (REML=FALSE).

How to sum values across multiple variables using a wildcard?
I have a dataframe called "data" with 5 records (in rows) each of which has been scored on each of many variables (in columns). Five of the variables are named var1, var2, var3, var4, var5 using headers. The other variables are named using other conventions. I can create a new variable called var6 with the value 15 for each record with this code: > var6=var1+var2+var3+var4+var5

[LLVMdev] [RFC] AArch64: Should we disable GlobalMerge?
Hi all, I've started looking at the GlobalMerge pass, enabled by default on ARM and AArch64. I think we should reconsider that, at least for AArch64. As is, the pass just merges all globals together, in groups of 4KB (AArch64, 128B on ARM). At the time it was enabled, the general thinking was "it's almost free, it doesn't affect performance much, we might as well use it".
