Finding the knots in a smoothing spline using nknots
Hi r-helpers. Please forgive my ignorance, but I would like to plot a smoothing spline (smooth.spline) from package "stats", and show the knots in the plot, and I can't seem to figure out where smooth.spline has located the knots (when I use nknots). Unfortunately, I don't know a lot about splines, but I know that they provide me an easy way to estimate the location of local

Possible bug in summary.survfit - 'scale' argument ignored?
Hi all, Using: R version 2.8.1 Patched (2009-03-07 r48068) on OSX (10.5.6) with survival version: Version: 2.35-3 Date: 2009-02-10 I get the following using the first example in ?summary.survfit: > summary( survfit( Surv(futime, fustat)~1, data=ovarian)) Call: survfit(formula = Surv(futime, fustat) ~ 1, data = ovarian) time n.risk n.event survival

precision of std. error in summary
Hi, I'm doing robust regression with the following command rlm(dip~ind1+ind2-1,method="M",psi=psi,maxit=1000,acc=1e-15) now when I ask for a summary summary(rlm(dip~ind1+ind2-1,method="M",psi=psi,maxit=1000,acc=1e-15)) I get Coefficients: Value Std. arima problems when using argument fixed=
As I am reading ?arima, only NA entries in the argument fixed= imports. The following seems to indicate otherwise: x <- arima.sim(model=list(ar=0.8), n=100) + (1:100)/50 > t <- 1:100 > mod1 <- lm(x ~ t) > > init1 <- c(0, coef(mod1)[2]) > fixed1 <- c(as.numeric(NA), 0) > > arima(x, order=c(1,0,0), xreg=t, include.mean=FALSE, init=init1, fixed=fixed1)

Initial values of the parameters of a garch-Model
Dear all, I'm using R 2.8.1 under Windows Vista on a dual core 2,4 GhZ with 4 GB of RAM. I'm trying to reproduce a result out of "Analysis of Financial Time Series" by Ruey Tsay. In R I'm using the fGarch library. After fitting a ar(3)-garch(1,1)-model > model<-garchFit(~arma(3,0)+garch(1,1), analyse) I'm saving the results via > result<-model

Factor moderators in metafor
I'm puzzled by the behaviour of factors in rma models, see example and comments below. I'm sure there's a simple explanation but can't see it... [LLVMdev] std::cout << *MyModule does not work anymore
It seems that support for dumping text representation of LLVM objects to standard channels and C++ output streams was removed. My guess is that now we must use errs() instead of std::cerr, llvm::raw_fd_ostream instead of std::ofstream, etc. The changes are not trivial, as for instance llvm::raw_fd_ostream without flags fails if the file exists, but std::ofstream does not. The changes include

MMX IDCT for theora-exp
Hello, I'm attaching IDCT MMX patch. I reused IDCT from theora-a3-MMXd.zip. It should work on 64bit X86 platform too. Here is most used functions when playing video with jet aircrafts (gripen) Ogg logical stream 310b2968 is Theora 720x480 29.97 fps video Encoded frame content is 720x480 with 0x0 offset I can play this video with like 200-300 frame drops on Athlon XP 1700+ CPU load (with

[LLVMdev] 2.1 Pre-Release Available (testers needed)
LLVMers, The 2.1 pre-release (version 1) is available for testing: http://llvm.org/prereleases/2.1/version1/ I'm looking for members of the LLVM community to test the 2.1 release. There are 2 ways you can help: 1) Download llvm-2.1, llvm-test-2.1, and the appropriate llvm-gcc4.0 binary. Run "make check" and the full llvm-test suite (make TEST=nightly report). 2) Download
