How to test if a slope is different than 1?
Dear R-helpers, I would like to test if the slope corresponding to a continuous variable in my model (summary below) is different than one. I would appreciate any ideas for how I could do this in R, after having specified and run this model? Many thanks, Mark Na Call: lm(formula = log(data$AB.obs + 1, 10) ~ log(data$SIZE, 10) + data$Y) Residuals: Min 1Q Median 3Q

Can Not Get UPS to Turn Off After System Shutdown
I just installed NUT on a new Linux (Gentoo) system. Most things work, (notification after 10 seconds on battery, notification and system shutdown after 100 seconds on battery.) However I can't seem to get the UPS (an Eaton 5SC1500) to turn itself off after the Gentoo system shutdown. This is the shutdown command I am using in /etc/nut/upsmon.conf: SHUTDOWNCMD "/usr/sbin/upsdrvctl

Auto-generated find queries adding bogus WHERE clauses
[Sorry for the poor subject; this is really hard to explain] I''m trying to run a search over several objects which themselves contain multiple model objects, like so: class Collection << ActiveRecord::Base def findpkg self.repositories.each do |r| p = r.packages.find(:all, :conditions => "name like ''%pkg%''") end end end

Upssched 100% CPU after updating Debian 12
After launching the command several times, with debug (posted by new code in a new branch for the investigation) confirming that the same daemon handles operations from the new client instances, its strace now has numerous FDs to report after select() - so I guess it is a problem of detecting an exit of the counterpart. 0.000000 [D2] parse_at: is 'heartbeat at localhost' in AT

Upssched 100% CPU after updating Debian 12
Hi, Great work Jim! I?m glad you could reproduce the problem and found a potential culprit. Just for my own interest I restored upsshed from my backups (version 2.7.4-13) and it seems to running ok, so no big runtime changes regarding that with Debian 12. It is not hogging CPU. From the daemon log the heartbeat seems to be working ok. Only difference between the old logs (pre Debian 12 update)

So... determining that FD is to be reaped proved hard. Internet lore suggests fcntl() and poll() on the FD, but it just seems valid to them. The errno is also usually not raised (once I saw a "111: Connection refused" though). So the best dumb idea so far is to bail out if we spent the whole loop (128 attempts) and only got zero-sized read replies and no errors.

So, got some good news: I hear(*) I managed to reproduce the problem with current NUT master and an adapted copy of your posted configs and script :D Experimental debugging now sounds possible. (*) PC under the desk wails with all its cooling fans as soon as I started the client which spawned a daemon and itself had exited: $ UPSNAME=heartbeat at localhost NOTIFYTYPE=ONBATT

How to Backup and Restore MBR within Logical Volumes?
Hi All, I have several Xen virtual machines within logical volumes using LVM2. I did not use disk images for performance reasons. Conventionally, if I want to clone my virtual machines, I have to dd the LV to an image file. But this consumes a lot of time and harddisk space. So, instead of doing that, I want to use losetup and kpartx with my logical volumes, which contain operating systems of
