swiotlb buffer is full
Hello,
I've noticed firefox got randomly stuck, and as sometimes that leads to a
complete system lock-up, I've checked dmesg and got this:

dovecot auth using 100% CPU
What do you see in the logs?
My guess is that someone is trying a brute force auth against you,

Marginality rule between powers and interaction terms in lm()
Dear all,
I have a model with simple terms, quadratic effects, and interactions.
I am wondering what to do when a variable is involved in a significant
interaction and in a non-significant quadratic effect. Here is an
example
d = data.frame(a=runif(20), b=runif(20))
d$y = d$a + d$b^2
So I create both an simple effect of a and a quadratic effect of b.
m = lm(y ~ a + b + I(a^2) + I(b^2) +

swiotlb buffer is full
Yeah, a lot of people were getting that, as a result of some drm/ttm
hugepage usage.
Christian, did a fix ever end up going out? If so, what kernel was it
included in?

Samba 4 slow write
Hello Ervin,
The in-memory cache lookup could be added back into
samba-4.1.6 by applying the attached patch,
if it could be compiled with Louis how-to steps,
perhaps got the chance to make U14.04 be stayed on samba-4.
Here is my test,
the test-bench is uploading 5000 files and each one is 1MB.
The attached patch could improve 15% at case B).
Case A) Original samba-4.1.6

I would be interested in both, if possible: To confirm that it's not
only my machines that exhibit this behaviour given my settings, and to
see what can be achieved with your tuned settings.
Thank you!

Samba 4 slow write
Hi Jones,
many thanks again four your help and your time.
Thanks for the patch too - I'll check it up.
On my Ubuntu, there is a Samba 4.1.6. I'll install the samba
source package, and will try to apply the patch, then - I hope -
the package will be compiled as well.
I'll notify to you about the result. (First, I need to upgrade
that server.)
Thanks again,
Ervin

Samba 4 slow write
Dear Samba users,
here is an Ubuntu 14.04, with Samba 4 (4.1.6), and LDAP (slapd
2.4.31). The config came from a previous system (Debian Squeezy),
which had been crashed (HW error - on this new machine, I've put
Ubuntu).
So, as I wrote, the smb.conf and LDAP database was copied from
the backup from the old system - but it works as well. Only one
thing what's very annoying. The Samba is

GRUB-PC does not automatically populate Xen related parameters in
/boot/grub/grub.cfg so I added them manually (see below). All the
packages involved on my Dell PowerEdge R710 running Debian GNU/Linux
