trouble with xenserver and xfs (soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 61s!)
Hi everybody, i hope that i'm on the right mailing list. I'm having some trouble with xfs and xen. We are running the newest xenserver version with ha on dell servers and a dell equalogic. I set up a fileserver (debian lenny 2.6.29-xs5.5.0.17) with one ext3 partiton for the os and one xfs partition for the data. Two webserver are using this fileserver with nfs. Now i run the second time into following problem when rsync was running for backup: [212521.428003] BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 61s! [rsync:29921] [212521.428003]...

Does Opensolaris support thin reclamation?
Support for thin reclamation depends on the SCSI "WRITE SAME" command; see this draft of a document from T10: http://www.t10.org/ftp/t10/document.05/05-270r0.pdf. I spent some time searching the source code for support for "WRITE SAME", but I wasn''t able to find much. I assume that if it was supported, it would be listed in this header file: http://src.opensolaris.org/source...

NFS export issue
Hello, I have a ZFS filesystem structure, which is basically like this: /foo /foo/bar /foo/baz all are from one pool and /foo does only contain the other directories/mounts (no other files) When I try to export /foo via dfstab, I can see the directories bar and baz, but these are empty. Can I only export via NFS each subdir on its own ? thanks in advance. Thomas

Dovecot auth process repeatedly crashes on OS X Server 10.9
My dovecot/auth process crashes several times a minute, sometimes at the same second, sometimes randomly. I?ve turned on auth_debug and been pouring over everything trying to see if I can see what is going on but I can?t find anything. I?m running OS X Server 10.9 and dovecot 2.2.5. I can?t say for sure, but it looks to me like the crashed process doesn?t even save anything to mail-debug.log before it crashes. It takes about 2 seconds for it to come up. Once it crashed about 10 times in 2 seconds. Can anyone give me any ideas where I should look? Here...

Timer/ISR1 errors have returned in kernel-xen-2.6.18-348.3.1.el5
Hi all, We recently upgrade from CentOS 5.8 to CentOS 5.9 on kernel-xen-2.6.18-348.3.1.el5, and after booting into the new kernel, noted large amounts of these messages every second or so in the logs: Mar 30 21:38:35 atlas2 kernel: Warning Timer ISR/0: Time went backwards: delta=-1393683849 delta_cpu=22316151 shadow=225003685197135 off=129240997 processed=225005208029053 cpu_processed=225003792029053 On both the dom0 and the domUs. Some reading indicates that this _was_ a fault fixed in 2009/2010,...

Opus for audiobooks etc
...ven 32kbps Opus rather high marks.) For audiobook use, I don't know that the SILK modes or anything else with that low of a bitrate will be good enough, and when you're storing hundreds of hours of speech 64kbps adds up fast. I'd guess the sweet spot for audiobooks would be between 20 and 32 kbps, and this seems to my unschooled understanding to be a region where Opus's low delay might put it at a serious disadvantage. Other than just being curious in general about what folks have to say about audiobook use, I'm curious about one thing in particular-- how feasible w...

ATI VGA Passthrough / Xen 4.2 / Linux 3.8.6
...39;m using the kernel and userspace tools from here: http://xen.crc.id.au/support/guides/install/# on Scientific Linux 6. I gave up on trying to get an Nvidia card to work in the guest having read about the extra patches required to get a non-Quadro card to work. So I switched to using an ATI 6450/7450 card. This works fine - almost. ATI cards have a secondary audio output device function on them for outputting audio over HDMI outputs. When I pass both the VGA and the HDMI audio devices from the host to the guest, the guest cannot use the VGA card. It always shows up as unusable in the g...
