samba - Aug 2025 - Not converting SID to UID

Good point, we first noticed this on 7/21 after Windows patching began on 7/17.

Does samba 4.21.7 contain a fix?

Is Samba 4.10 affected?  This is what we are running on Linux 7 and haven't
seen any issues yet.

Did this all start last patch Tuesday ?
Microsoft released a patch that stopped the 'ad' idmap backend from
working, Samba released a patch the day before, see here:

It should, that version was released to fix the problem.

Not sure, but 4.10.x is ancient in Samba terms, it went EOL in Samba
nearly 5 years ago and by 'Linux 7' I presume you mean RHEL 7 or Centos
7, they are both EOL.
