I must admit I don't know a ton about group policies. I want to create a
group policy that causes windows clients to use certain NTP servers for time.
(I don't want to get into a debate about using NT5DS.) This is all 4.21.4.
On the DC from which the other DCS copy the sysvol, I ran samba-tool gpo
admxload and then ran it twice more, once for each of the latest Windows 10 and
Windows 11 admx's. No errors.
The Microsoft policy definitions seem to be installed although I don't know
if they are installed correctly. For example, there is an admx for W32Time at:
/var/lib/samba/sysvol/domain.brandli.com/Policies/PolicyDefinitions/Program\
Files/Microsoft\ Group\ Policy/Windows\ 11\ Sep\ 2024\
(24H2)/PolicyDefinitions/W32Time.admx.
I'm suspicious that this is buried under the "Program Files"
directory, but I don't know that this is wrong.
In the GPMC, I created a new object. I edited it to run the Group Policy
Management Editor. The Windows documentation for the time server policy says
that it exists under Computer\ Configuration/Policies/Administrative\
Templates/System/Windows\ Time\ Service/Time\ Providers. There is no container
called System under "Administrative Templates" only "GNOME
Settings" and "Samba".
Are the windows policy definitions installed properly (i.e. in the right
directory)? What should I be looking for?
Thank you in advance for any help.
