[Samba] Announce: mjt samba debian/ubuntu repository changes
Hi! The repository I'm maintaining at http://www.corpit.ru/mjt/packages/samba/ , will have several changes in the near future. 1. Old distributions - notable debian bookworm and ubuntu focal - will be removed. There's no support on the recent samba for these anyway, due to too old gnutls or other packages in there. 2. Old samba versions - at least 4.16 and 4.17 - will be removed too. These hasn't seen updates and are discontinued upstream too, so no further updates are expected. 3. When I started, for about a month, the directory layout was different. It was my first try, and the initial decision wasn't the best. Yet, up to this date, numerous hosts continue asking for updates for samba-4.16 for ubuntu-22.04-focal, from numerous IP addresses. I don't understand such an ignorance, - throw some repository into sources.list and forget about it for years. The URL has been 404-compliant for over 2 years already. I plan to create and upload dummy/empty samba packages to those locations, so the users are made aware they've old throw-n-forget stuff, by basically *removing* their samba. If you have better option of this last one, I'm all ears. Thanks, /mjt
